Quotes of the Day:
“I will work every day to make sure that Washington DC is as inconsequential to your lives as possible” –Rick Perry (who can, BTW, give a speech without using a teleprompter, unlike Barack ‘The World’s Greatest Orator™’ Obama)
- “Isn’t it a bit ironic that Americans celebrate Independence Day on July 4 to recognize our rejection of oppressive British regulation, mercantilism and taxation, and yet the typical American now works until the middle of August to pay for today’s Big Government? That is, we celebrate our declaration of independence from the British government when we are still more than a month away from really being free from the tax and regulatory burden of our current government.” –Mark J. Perry
- “Boy, the lefties in Wisconsin have really gone crazy. Alas, I fear we’ll see similar crackups elsewhere. It’s not just the loss of power, it’s the squashing of a worldview.” –Glenn Reynolds

Marxist thought is very old, much older than Marx. American freedom is still unique and new in history and still providing examples of just how well human beings can live and prosper together. We would be wise to study and appreciate our own success, instead of dismissing it with disdain in a mad rush to once again embrace a foolish, failed and disastrous old idea.

Increasing number of patients with unexplainable decrease in white blood cells, headache, nausea. They are diagnosed for existing illness and undergo treatment, but they don’t respond to the treatment at all. I’ve seen those cases in my hospital. I’m not saying they are all because of the radiation exposure, but I’m telling you what I’m seeing.
When we wash their hair, it comes off in a clump. It is really scary. The doctor says, “I really wonder why the white blood cell count is down…” Doctor, don’t be so relaxed about it. - This is turning out to be not the race war the radical left was hoping for… ‘We’ll Hunt Down these Black Men, Cut Off Their Heads and Feed Them to Our Dogs…’
As riots in the U.K. become increasingly volatile, bands of vigilantes, in this case Muslim ones, are roaming the streets looking to take on any and all comers — mainly because three of young men in their community were run down and killed while trying to defend their family’s business. Now since many of the rioters are reportedly black, racial tensions between the two groups have flared, with one Muslim man vowing to “hunt down these black men, cut off their heads and feed them to our dogs.”
Perhaps not the best way to assuage the ever-growing hostility that is rife across the country, but that certainly is one way to get his point across.

You know who the real haves are? The limo libs and the welfare bums.
The have-nots are the middle class who pay the taxes and who then have to leap out of burning buildings because some models and some welfare bums want to steal.
This is the British welfare system that the Charleston Gazette wants to import into the United States — right after it bans personal possession of firearms.
If a conservative is a liberal who has been robbed, all the British taxpayers should be conservatives after this riot.
Once again, super-state Progressivism eats itself — and then sits dejectedly among the rubble and chaos it created, scratching its ugly, empty head and wondering how it all happened, and whimpering about the “unfairness” of it all.

Smartest President and Administration Evah!™ US State Dept. Reaction to China’s First Aircraft Carrier: Um, What Do They Need That For?
As China’s first aircraft carrier takes to the open seas today for its inaugural sea trials, the U.S. government directed a pointed question at the Chinese military: Why would you need a warship like that?
“We would welcome any kind of explanation that China would like to give for needing this kind of equipment,” U.S. State Department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told reporters today. “We have had concerns for some time and we’ve been quite open with them with regard to the lack of transparency from China regarding its power projection and its lack of access and denial of capabilities.”
Were Beijing to have a sense of humor I’d expect an answer to that question along the line of, “We needed a ship of such massive capacity with which to deliver all the money you’re borrowing,” but since the snark option is off the table, China says the ship is “for the purposes of technological research, experiments and training.”
It’s one more instance of democracy dying in our hemisphere while America turns a blind eye.
“I want you to focus and I hope you can talk to your families and your friends and your neighbors that when someone says that there is a penetration of Jihadi Islamists within Canadian society, do not dismiss it as some right-wing xenophobic racist rant.
Today in the White House there are three members of the Muslim Brotherhood that influence Obama’s policy.
- One is Rashad Hussain of Indian origin who is the American Ambassador to the 52 nation organization of Islamic countries.
- Dialia Mogahed who writes his speech who comes from the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
- Just day before yesterday, another woman, an academic, was appointed in that circle.
This is happening while we sit silent and I say that as a Liberal Democrat, as someone who worked and campaigned for Barack Obama.
We have evidence in Canada of this penetration that’s going on.”
When I hear this in the wake of our recent grievous losses in Afghanistan — losses that some are whispering could have, should have been avoided, I am sick to my stomach.
They were definitely sabotaged - but by who?
Longtime readers of this blog already know I, and many others in the conservative media went to great lengths to expose Obama’s radical associations and supporters in 2008. I can still hear the the left’s wailing refrain, “Guilt by association!”. No, you idiots. It was guilt of association. No normal person is friendly with that many Islamic radicals and Marxists as I tried to point out here, and here.
New York City sometimes has all the heart of a statue.
Consider this news: The city will not invite the people who responded on 9/11 to the memorial at Ground Zero on 9/11/11.
The city instead will hold a separate-but-equal ceremony — on some other day.
After all, President Obama will be there. And we all know where he was on 9/11: In the Illinois state Senate.
5 days later, he would be in church with his family listening to the pastor gloat about 9/11 as chickens coming home to roost for that — as he said on other occasions — god-damn America.
Obama hit the links today for the 76th time.
This is his entire schedule for the day:
What this all points to is what I have been clamoring about in all of these upcoming debates in preparation for the 2012 Presidential election…and whether or not THIS time around the idea of islamic terror and the threat against America will even come up. When it was McCain and Obama in 2008, well…no one wanted to ask a question about defending this nation against terrorism because they didn’t want to be seen picking on the black man without a clue…oh, and they didn’t want to open a can of worms with the Muslim name of his.
It better be different this time – this current President has done all he can to weaken America’s defenses and certainly has bent over backwards trying to ensure that any terrorist caught is punished with a stern slap on the wrist.
The president, by God, he’s got resolve on one thing: he’s going to Martha’s Vineyard whether you like it or not!
Nine days! He “wants to be with his children.”
Really? Aren’t they in the White House? Listen to these idiotic arguments.
No, he wants to be on Martha’s Vineyard with the beautiful people; the millionaires and the billionaires. And the private jets and the yachts! This is what kills me: the hypocrisy of how this man lives!
He lives a life of luxury, which you and I subsidize… while he attacks a life of luxury by people who pay for themselves!
He takes the biggest corporate jet in the world — in terms of its cost, operation and construction — Air Force One, there’s gonna be yachts, millionaires, billionaires. They’re going to be eating all kinds of food with salt, fat and all the rest of it, wonderful desserts, cheesecake, chocolate, mousse — you and I, were supposed to act like we’re living in hovels.
At least it wasn’t Jesus.
At a small, exclusive New York City fundraiser Thursday night featuring the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow and movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, Obama compared himself and his agenda to that of Martin Luther King Jr.
So if you’re George W Bush, you are always on vacation are should duly be blasted for it in the media. If you are Barack Hussein Obama, there is no such thing as a vacation even if you are on vacation.
The White House website’s photo captions may not prove decisive to the outcome of Zivotofsky v. Clinton. But if Obama’s men thought that pulling a stunt like this on the Web-savvy Roberts court would strengthen their case, they really are a bunch of amateurs.

When the Green Bay Packers visited the White House on Friday to celebrate the team’s Super Bowl title, linebacker Desmond Bishop wasn’t with his teammates. He had forgotten his license on the team charter plane and without a license, there’s no getting past White House security.
Now, isn’t the same White House whose supporters believe demanding a person present an ID to vote is tantamount to resurrecting Jim Crow laws and even expecting someone to have one was blatant racism?
Charles Krauthammer: The System Works
Notice how the loudest complaints about “broken politics” come from those who lost the debate. It’s understandable for sore losers to rage against the machine. But there’s no need for the rest of us to parrot their petulance.
Your ‘surprisingly unexpected’ economic news of the day:
Obama has much more important things to do like flying around on Air Force One to fundraisers/phony and ghoulish photo ops/vacations or ‘doing important work’ like filling out his NCAA brackets and they also get in the way of his Golf game… LA Times Report: Obama No Longer Receives Daily Oval Office Economic Briefing
Leadership in action.
Thus, the $242.155 billion in 2011 dollars that the Obama administration increased the debt between last Tuesday and last Friday is more in inflation-adjusted terms than the combined debt increases of the Truman and Eisenhower administrations in the ten-year period from the end of fiscal 1950 to the end of fiscal 1960.
Obama’s only legacy will be the destruction of the American institution, from unconstitutional takeovers like with ObamaCare and the Dodd-Frank monstrosity, to the massive debt that will enslave future generations.
For Republicans, my advice is to propose 5% real cuts — not “rate of growth” cuts but real cuts from last year’s budgets — across the board, and allow layoffs. There’s nothing sacred about the civil service rules, after all. They’re just statutes, statutes enacted back when the country had money. Let Obama argue that there’s not 5% of fat in the federal government. Nobody’ll believe him, especially among the majority of voters whose household budgets have been cut by a lot more than 5%.
The very idea that, as the King decreed the other day, there’s just “not much further we can cut” out of Leviathan’s bloated budget is ludicrous, completely laughable, especially after the stupefying spending increases he’s implemented. Everyone with a lick of sense knows this. The 5 percent Glenn suggests really should have been GOP Congresscritters’ non-negotiable starting point in any debt-ceiling negotiations: a good start, from which further progress could and should have been made. The fact that it never even seems to have occurred to them at all speaks volumes about just how serious the GOP is about reducing the size and scope of government, and tells you all you’ll ever need to know about just how we got where we are.
Caddell claims that a “…sea of anger is churning…” And he is right.
According to a recent Rasmussen poll, just 17% of likely voters believe congress legislates with the consent of the governed. Eight percent believe members of congress are more likely to listen to the concerns of voters than the demands of a particular political party. And just 6% rate the performance of congress as good or excellent.
When will the American people make it clear they have had enough?
For decades, Big Brother has confiscated wealth and trampled liberty. Taxpayers have grumbled yet done nothing as trillions have been gifted to Democrat voter blocs. Perhaps criminal assaults by politicians have not been “personal” enough to elicit more than occasional protests via the ballot box.
But recently, the political ruling elite have hinted at the practical confiscation of retirement savings and 401K accounts. Such an act WILL be personal. And coupled with the implementation of other schemes to finance the practices of placating, rewarding and vote buying, the political class will loose a public upheaval not seen in this nation since 1776.
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy (except for the UN, of course):
Becerra, for example, wasted no time before using his appointment as a fundraising tool for his own campaign.
About two hours after House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi released Becerra’s name as one of her appointees, an invitation went out inviting Wall Streetlobbyists to a $1,500 per-ticket event. The invitation highlighted Becerra’s membership on the exclusive committee.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the invitation to the August 31 event, was sent by Jim Hart of the Investment Company Institute. It touted Becerra, calling the congressman “not only vice chairman of the Democratic Caucus, but who also has just been named to the new deficit reduction committee.”
Many observers consider Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) to be the dumbest person in the Senate, perhaps in the entire United States Congress. Consider, for example, this 2002 Murrayism regarding Osama bin Laden:
We’ve got to ask, why is this man so popular around the world? Why are people so supportive of him in many countries that are riddled with poverty? He’s been out in these countries for decades, building schools, building roads, building infrastructure, building day care facilities, building health care facilities, and the people are extremely grateful.
Yeah, women in Taliban-controlled areas like the convenience of dropping the kids off at the day care center before they check themselves in for the whipping or the stoning.
This moron has been appointed by the Democratic leadership to the budget super-committee.
Murray’s brand of politics has plenty to do with the financial situation in which the U.S. now finds itself. See, for example, her threats of retaliation against any Senators who might vote for an anti-pork bill. Just the sort of person one would want to put on a committee to address the deficit.
As with the NLRB situation, if President Obama and his administration really cared about growing the economy economy, he would ensure that Supreme Court review of Obamacare gets expedited and resolved. Again, the only reasonable conclusion to reach is that the Obama administration doesn’t care about NLRB v. Boeing’s clearly damaging impact on the economy.
The Journal today identified just two of a myriad of matters (add EPA regs on cars, trucks, power-plant emissions, unnecessary withholding of drilling permits, pervasive overregulation in general, etc.) which make it a wonder that businesses are hiring anyone at all. We’re condemned to a mediocre economy if these authoritarian barriers aren’t removed. If they’re not, only one administration will be to blame, and it’s not that of George W. Bush.
What does it mean when the Executive branch of government — in this case, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) — refuses to comply with a lawful subpoena?
Helpful Hint: Can you say “Constitutional Crisis“?
Some effects of this policy change could be requiring farmers to log and file the miles they drive in their tractors, and other unnecessary paperwork and expense at a time when inflation is already threatening US household budgets. And it’s another infringement on individual and state authority that’s just not needed. We’ve gotten along just fine without this sort of requirement for more than 200 years now.
The additional public safety gained from increased federal regulation is unclear at best, but the additional costs for farmers would come at a time when they could least afford them, Brancel said in a letter to federal officials. In one scenario, farmers hauling grain to local elevators would be treated as if they were engaged in interstate commerce because grain, in many cases, eventually leaves the state.”
Oh, the joys of being one of the elite. How satisfying it must be to have gone to the right schools, to belong to the right clubs, to shop in the right stores, and to enjoy the company of those just like you, of those who think just like you. What a warm feeling it must be to know that you are smarter, better dressed, better looking — in every way, better than those benighted souls who live in flyover country, bitter clingers to God and guns who could not begin to understand your moral superiority.
One of the great benefits of being among the elite is the power to determine what is good and right, and what ought to be, particularly for the lower classes who just aren’t moral or smart enough to know what’s good for them. It is sometimes a burden, laboring ceaselessly to build a society that is socially just and equal. But the elite gladly take on that burden, for the rewards are greater.
A primary tool of the elite progressive (or socialist) is central planning. Not only are the denizens of flyover country incapable of understanding the glory and rightness of socialism. They have the nasty, foolish tendency to ignore or even oppose what the elite know is good for them. They must be forced to be more diverse, equal, tolerant, and socially just. And if they resist, they must be punished, severely.
A perfect example of central planning is the federal Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards. A better example of the folly of central planning is hard to find. CAFE is rife with unintended consequences — and a complete lack of understanding of the science and engineering involved in the numbers picked, apparently out of a hat.
Obama and his socialist minions at the EPA intuitively understand that energy production in general, and fossil fuels, in particular, serve as the lifeblood of a free and prosperous economy. This is why they have launched an inexorable war against our energy producers. By disrupting our energy productivity, and replacing it with no-growth, impotent green energy sources, Obama plans not only to destroy thousands of jobs within the energy sector, but millions of jobs throughout every facet of the economy – jobs that are so reliant on reliable and cheap energy. The only jobs that will be sparred are the ones of his green corporate cronies, such as Johnson Controls, the electric car battery manufacturer in Michigan that was paid a visit by Obama on Thursday.
Let’s review some of the most recent sinister attempts by the EPA to discomfit our energy producers, kill jobs, and raise the cost of living on the very objects of their reprehensible class warfare….
Since day one of the Obama administration, I’ve chronicled Loathsome Cowboy Ken Salazar’s War on the West, War on Jobs, and War on Science/Rule of Law as head of the Interior Department. His eco-radical sidekick Carol Browner is gone, yet Salazar remains in place. Federal judge after federal judge has spanked Salazar and Obama’s job-destroying eco-nitwits for lawlessly and fraudulently imposing their junk-science drilling ban . Salazar spearheaded the pulling of scores of oil leases by invoking bogus eco-claims and has presided over an expansive land grab through administrative fiat.
These are very common purchases, not for terrorists, but for Preppers and Survivalists, who are obviously the targets of the FBI profile, not secret Al-Qaeda agents. The handout goes on to list behaviors such as “making anti-U.S. or radical theological comments (?)” or “insisting on paying in cash”, as signs of terrorism. It even instructs store owners to subtly interrogate their customers in order to draw a fuller profile. THIS IS CALLED CITIZEN SPYING. Period.
It’s amazing how many times this woman can regurgitate the same talking points almost verbatim.
Pelosi Agrees With Rep. Jackson Lee: Republicans Raised Fuss Over Debt Limit Because Obama Is Black (Video)
Democrats are incapable of understanding why anyone in their right mind would not want to steal from taxpayers to buy votes.
This is the same nut who claimed she lowered the deficit.
There’s no denying that Bush did little to rein in the fat-and-happy Congresses that shoveled out the pork during his first six years in office. That deficit spending did incalculable political damage, allowing Democrats to position themselves to the right of Republicans on fiscal policy and falsely run as conservatives in 2008.
But budget deficits under Bush were in the $100 billion to $400 billion range, mostly related to the post 9/11 wars. The Obama administration — working with a Democratic House and Senate its first two years — set the course for budget deficits of more than $1 trillion into the distant future. Obama is on course to pile up more debt in three years than Bush did in eight.
Democrats — led by Reid — now own this country’s debt problem and its struggling economy. The 2012 election will be a referendum on Obama and Reid, not Bush. The Tea Party will see to that.
2012: The Fork in the Road…
Rick Perry announced today that he is a candidate for President of the United States. He has been governor of Texas for ten years, Lieutenant Governor before that, Commissioner of Agriculture, and a Representative in the Texas Legislature. Here is the announcement speech — no teleprompter — and if you don’t know much about him, very worth reading it all. He tells us who he is and what he believes.
We cannot afford four more years of this rudderless leadership. Last week, that leadership failed, and the tax and spend and borrow agenda of this President led to the first ever downgrade of the credit rating of the United States of America.
In reality though, this is just the most recent downgrade. The fact is for nearly three years President Obama has been downgrading American jobs. He’s been downgrading our standing in the world. He’s been downgrading our financial stability. He’s been downgrading our confidence, and downgrading the hope for a better future for our children. That’s a fact.
Texas has a pretty good record. No income tax. They like business there — home to more Fortune 500 businesses than any other state. Balanced budget. Over the past two years, over 40 percent of all jobs created in the country were created in Texas.
Even before the Perry announcement (though we all know he was going to announce) David Axlerod fired an early Obama campaign shot, on the CBS Early Show:
“I don’t think many people would attribute it to the leadership of the governor down there,” he said of jobs growth, citing federal spending on oil production and the military.
“Federal spending on oil production?” Have I not been writing for months and months about the thousands of jobs killed because the Obama administration will not issue permits for drilling? And potential federal revenue from that drilling forgone because they didn’t want to let anyone drill for oil? How about the ten oil rigs departed for other countries? Texas is a Gulf state, and has suffered from the Obama administration’s lack of a sensible energy policy. And Obama’s going to brag about how he deserves the credit for Texas Job Growth? Mr. slash defense spending, bring the troops home early, announce our schedule so the enemy can make appropriate plans, and cut the military back to bare bones?
Obama Camp: Perry’s Record A “Carbon Copy” Of Washington Republicans . . . Except For That Whole Creating Half Of All U.S. Jobs Over Last Two Years Thing…
Obama’s campaign knows it’s all about jobs and the economy this election so I’m guessing they’re crapping their pants right about now.
On Friday David Axelrod argued that Perry’s record of job creation in Texas was not what it seemed. Yes, Texas has created more jobs over the last decade, while Perry has been governor, than any other state. For several of those years, in fact, it has created more jobs that all the other states combined. But, Axelrod insisted, Perry should not get any credit for that accomplishment.
After all, Texas is an oil-producing state. In fact, it is the largest oil and gas producer in the country. And, yes, Texas also benefits from the presence of large military installations. So it was more or less inevitable that Texas, with its oil production and military installations, would add jobs and enjoy strong economic growth during the past decade. Just like California.
California? Yes, California is the third largest oil and gas producing state, right behind Texas and Alaska.
California is also host to some of the nation’s largest military installations. There are, in fact, 32 military bases in California, including Edwards AFB, Travis AFB, Vandenberg AFB, Camp Pendleton, the Presidio of Monterey, Fort Irwin, and the San Diego and Coronado naval bases, the largest naval installations on the west coast. By contrast, there are only 15 military installations in Texas.
California is also home to some of the largest aerospace and high-tech contractors in the nation. Rockwell International, Lockheed, and Northrop, major defense contractors, are all located in southern California.
What California lacks is the kind of political leadership that will attract new business. Economic growth in California — one can hardly call it “growth” — has been stagnant or worse over the past decade. In 2008-2009 GDP growth in the state was minus 2.2%. Along with a stagnant economy comes high unemployment. In June 2011, the states’s unemployment rate stood at 11.8%. That same month the unemployment rate in Texas was 8.2%, well below the national average of 9.2%.
Over the past decade California’s economy has been the mirror image of that of Texas. In April 2011, California ranked last among the 50 states in job creation. In one month alone, it lost more than 11,000 jobs. During that same time period, Texas led the country in job creation, as it has done for years.
Over the last decade Texas has also been the nation’s top exporting state. Obama says he wants to double U.S. exports over the next five years. There is not much evidence that he is going to succeed. But in Texas, with exports increasing at 26.7%, exports are more than doubling every four years.
That’s partly because many of California’s entrepreneurial businesses have fled to Texas, where Austin has become a major center of high-tech industry. Other businesses, such as Comerica, have abandoned the high-tax states of the north and northeast. When Comerica relocated to Dallas, it left its name on Tiger stadium, but that’s about all it left in Detroit.
As Governor of Texas, Rick Perry helped to create a tax and regulatory environment that would attract new business to the state and allow businesses already there to flourish. Passage of robust tort reform laws — laws which Obama has done everything possible to defeat at the national level — has attracted thousands of physicians and other professionals to Texas.
With its zero income tax, Texas has been attractive to both working adults and to retirees. Its regulatory policies have encouraged oil and gas drilling, including the use of hydraulic fracturing or “fracking” to remove previously untapped resources in the massive Barnett Shale and Eagle Glen fields.
The result of all this has been greater prosperity for everyone in the state. No, Mr. Axelrod, it was not just luck that brought about a decade of prosperity in the state of Texas. It was the leadership of Rick Perry and the passage of conservative tax and regulatory policies. It is no accident that Texas is in the catbird seat while California is in the dumpster.
I predict that, unless some totally unexpected dirt emerges, Perry will win in November 2012.
He wants to cut your babies in half with a cutlass. Not an Oldsmobile cutlass. A freaking cutlass!
Look, it pains me, as a Texas Longhorn fan, to go into this crap. I’ve been pickin on Aggies for the better part of 30 years.
But for the greater good.. Rick Perry is a graduate of Texas A&M University. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He was a yell leader, their version of a manly cheerleading guy (bear with me Aggies, correct on the finer points later, and shut up already I got it).
Texas A&M produced thousands of officers, and even more enlisted service men and women. It was and is a military prep college. They have a few traditions, like all military prep colleges, including a photo with a uniform they earned, a sabre and some shiny boots. They shined em themselves, they know how.
So please forgive me, if this pic, of a young man who graduated from A&M, received a commission and served in the United States Air Force, piloted C-130s, well golly he actually posed with his college Reserve Officer Training Corps regalia, and by the way served the nation honorably in our armed forces.
You may have missed the Left’s preemptive attack on Rick Perry. The GOP candidate’s transcripts were “mysteriously released” a few days ago, which smacks of another odd disclosure.
In 2004, Barack Obama’s GOP opponent for Senate — Jack Ryan — “mysteriously” had his sealed divorce records un-sealed.
But I’m sure that’s just coincidental.
You know, I find the media quite honest and diligent. It mocks and vilifies Rick Perry’s college transcripts, yet somehow forgot about checking Barack Obama’s:
1. Occidental College records and transcripts — Not released
2. Columbia University records and transcripts — Not released

In the Iowa Straw Poll, Bachmann edged out the insane clown posse, some dude from Minnesota came in a distant third, and the folks who are most likely to end up with the nomination weren’t even on the ballot.
In the wake of Congress’s 11th hour vote to raise the debt limit through the fall of 2012, the Tea Party is once again the center of attention for Beltway insiders and media pundits. Still reeling from the losses suffered in the 2010 midterms – and dismayed by the outcome of the debt-ceiling debate – Liberals are outraged that a minority movement within the Republican Party was able to wield such dramatic influence. So are some of the special interests that stand to lose if Washington mends its profligate spending ways.
Of course the “Tea Baggers”, as they are disdainfully called by the effete snobs that inhabit the Beltway, contributed nothing to the spending patterns that got us in this fix, but that’s irrelevant. They had the audacity to point out that the emperor had no clothes.
How could it happen? How could such a small contingent of no-name, know-nothing nobodies derail the well-oiled machine that is the Washington, D.C. establishment? And what’s in it for them? Why would they bring the government to its financial knees? Why would they jeopardize our credit-worthiness and compromise our ability to meet our financial obligations?
The answer, while simple, is something utterly foreign to the professional politicians who represent us on Capitol Hill. The answer is principle.
However, there is a problem for Democrats with turning the Tea Party into the bogeyman. Steven Spielberg’s Jaws is a fantastic movie because you do not see see the shark until you’re already well into the film, but eventually you see it. If you never did, the movie would have been forgotten long ago.
The Democrats are never going to be able to produce this terrible, villainous Tea Party for the world to behold. It will forever remain in the shadows, secretly making sure that nothing goes Obama’s way between now and Election Day. This makes for a very bad foil. There’s really no third act, no moment when Obama and the forces of light finally confront the Tea Party and its minions of darkness. Worse for the president, he does not get to square off against “the Tea Party” on the ballot. Instead, he will probably face Rick Perry or Mitt Romney, both of whom are living, breathing politicians with actual records, and no history of terrorism.
So yes, the Tea Party has become a red herring for the Democratic party and the liberals who dominate it, meant to distract the public from their own terrible record. Yet, as red herrings go, it is a pretty useless one – and a testimony to just how worried they are about next year.
James Taranto: The Left’s Summer of Discontent
Everyone loves a winner, and progressives are angry and disconsolate with Mr. Obama because they increasingly see him as a loser. But if the president is a loser, it is precisely because he is one of them.
Expect plenty of carping — and much worse — next year from the left. In 2003, near the end of his all-too-brief incarnation as a pro-GWOT conservative, Andrew Sullivan wrote of John Kerry (before endorsing him the following year), “The one thing that knowledgeable people have told me about John Kerry is that he doesn’t know when to stop. He has no controlling mechanism when he goes on the attack.”
But that wasn’t true just of Kerry as an individual; that’s a summation of the 21st century American left as a whole. And if the Tea Party turns out en masse next year — which seems like a reasonable forecast, given what we saw in 2010, then the left will explode in response, presenting a very ugly contrast to the dulcet tones of hopenchange in 2008.
Like others, Podhoretz points to Obama’s long association with Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, and Rashid Khalidi. When Kurtz and many others documented these ties, they were ridiculed or ignored. Many bought the phony argument that the president was only eight years old when Ayers planted bombs. While that was true, they completely ignored his many ties with Ayers and the Left while Obama was an adult and living in Chicago. And that the president took the title of his own memoir from a Wright speech, was close to the reverend, and was a member of his congregation for years. Evidently, the press bought the lame excuse that when Wright made his most contentious comments, Obama was not present and knew nothing about them.
Contrast that with how liberals examine the past ties of their current conservative opponents. In last week’s issue of The New Yorker, correspondent Ryan Lizza dug back deeply into Michele Bachmann’s ties, going to old friends, her pastor, and other associates. He writes: “Her appeal, along with her rapid ascent in the polls, is based on a collection of right-wing convictions, beliefs, and resentments that she has regularly broadcast from television studios and podiums since 2006, when she was first elected to Congress.” He goes through all of them, many quite disturbing, and of course, Lizza’s readers take them into account in evaluating whether or not to support her candidacy. When conservative writers did the same for Obama, they were roundly condemned for dealing in irrelevant smears, and written off completely. I do not recall Lizza, when he was a correspondent during the 2008 election, writing a similar piece on Obama, and engaging in the same kind of legwork about his background and ties. In dealing with Bachmann, Lizza goes all the way back to her associations in the 1970s and 80s, and argues that they are most relevant for understanding how she thinks and estimating what her beliefs are. As usual, liberal journalists have one standard for conservative candidates and another for those on the Left, like Barack Obama.
The event is on 9/30 and it’s made public now already. I’m sure this will be in the news again several times closer to the actual date of the event. Obama campaign will flood the free press “announcements”, to maximize the number of times that the Obama Victory Fund is printed in the press. And of course to make all the opponents shiver in fear of all that money being raised just so that the Obama 2012 team can “kill” them, in one way or another eliminating their chance of getting nominated.
First lady to attend R.I. fundraiser
Joseph R. Paolino Jr., former mayor of Providence and former ambassador to Malta, who lives at 10 Orchard St., said Wednesday that the fundraiser will be held on Sept. 30, beginning at about 4:30 p.m.
Tickets will start at $1,000 and “go all the way up to $38,500.”
Overall, the top 20 political donors lean strongly Democrat, see the average above in the last row of the chart: 76% Democrat vs. 20% Republican.

Have you ever noticed how the PC left always tries to get religion out of traditional holidays and schools but when it comes time for politics, Democrats seem to have no trouble politicking in tax-exempt places of worship?
It remains to be seen if Ms. Bigelow is Obama’s Leni Riefenstahl, but it sure looks like it as the old saying goes “If it quacks like a duck.”
Gunwalker/Fast & Furious/Castaway
Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) and the National Rifle Association have called for Holder’s resignation over “Operation Fast and Furious,” the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives investigation that monitored suspicious gun sales. Several of the weapons have been recovered from drug gangs in Mexico and two guns were found at the scene of the shooting death of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent last December.
However, when asked at a roundtable with Spanish-language print media on Monday whether Holder should quit, Obama said flatly, “No.”
Of course Obama doesn’t want Holder to resign because he is the one stonewalling everyone to protect Obama, Clinton and Napolitano from impeachment and prosecution. If he loses Holder and the truth comes out all four of them will be wearing orange jumpsuits… Fast and Furious Traced to the White House
Cornyn today sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder requesting information about any gun walking operations in Texas.
“Unfortunately, the Department of Justice has been less than forthcoming during congressional investigations into the failed ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’” Cornyn wrote. “I believe it is important that you promptly disclose the details of any past or present Texas-based ATF ‘gun-walking’ program similar to ‘Operation Fast and Furious.’ My constituents deserve a full accounting of any such activities in Texas.”
The WaPo is spinning so fast they are creating their own gravity well. The only good thing about this is that it indicates that the story is getting out despite the MSM’s best efforts to stonewall for Obama/Holder/Clinton /Napolitano and they are trying to cover their own behinds. The only ones they are fooling are themselves… Slow on the draw on Fast and Furious?
One of the ATF agents in Mexico City called the bungled operation “a perfect storm of idiocy.” The lack of cooperation from the White House and Justice Department are making that perfect storm even worse.
The war that dares not speak its name…US and Libya:
Look for the Union Label/Whackademia/The Badger Rebellion:
There’s one problem though: the protesters hired by the union are paid $10 per hour (with no benefits), which is below the Tennessee prevailing hourly wage of $12.56 for general laborers.
When does a contract dispute between management and labor go too far?
If the neighborhoods and homes of employers are now fair game for union protests (see SEIU protesters descend on bank exec’s home, terrifying his son), will union bosses’ neighborhoods and homes be fair game for anti-Marxism protesters as well?
An FBI spokesman confirmed Thursday that the bureau is looking into the allegation. “Because critical infrastructure has been affected, namely the telecommunications of both a hospital and a police department, the FBI is looking into this matter from a security standpoint as part of our security efforts leading up to the 9-11 anniversary,” Special Agent Bryan Travers said in an email.
So spoiled union goons don’t get their way and we’ve got to devote anti-terror and FBI resources?
Only in Obama’s America.
Unions and their utterly petty, petulant practices exemplify everything that is wrong with the entitlement/”gimme mine!” crowd – and just think, these same people who refuse to give up their luxurious benefit packages are the same hypocritical types who stir up the masses with talk of how “the man” is “screwing” them over. So, when it boils right down to it, these folks believe “the man” “screwing them over” is wrong, yet they see nothing wrong with unions screwing over taxpayers.
Say goodbye to another depraved lunatic in our kids’ classroom
I have a good friend from college named Magda who emigrated from Poland when she was very young — but not too young to remember how terrible it was in countries where people had the ideas of Karl Marx forced upon them by men with guns and Marxist zeal similar to Guevara.
When I sent Magda the link to William Fremd high school’s social studies page, she was horrified to see Marx up there so prominently and proudly displayed (above and beyond adventure shots of the teacher, off on vacations, making Marx and Guevara look like “Amazing Race” style travel buddies). I won’t transcribe exactly what she said — because she really went on a tear over this — but I’ll just say she thinks it’s disgusting that a high school in America promotes Marx and Guevara as “history heroes”.
“Whatever happened to George Washington or Martin Luther King? What about Jane Adams or Winston Churchill? Didn’t these people have something to do with social studies to warrant a place up there instead of those two murderers?”
In Other News…
The collapsing welfare state has bred a farm team of somethings. Just what these somethings turn out to be in ten years will be an interesting question. But as conjecture I will hazard that few if any will hold any allegiance toward the paternalistic state which fed, clothed and housed them. If the liberal project thinks they have won the affections of these somethings they are sadly mistaken. The unintended consequence of the multicultural, politically correct project may in the end be the opposite of its stated goal. Not a rainbow nation, but a divided one. Not a hate-free society but one in which every person is defined by his “Community” or the color of his skin.
The sad thing is that you could have predicted it. But no one was listening. Perhaps they’ll listen now.
Here’s a tip for liberal Missouri Governor Nixon and MO Dems: Hire better thugs to do your dirty work.
Wisconsin’s elected officials understand that their first responsibility is the safety of the public.
Chicago’s ruling Left will sacrifice public safety by withholding critical information, recognizing only the importance of not offending those whose votes are needed for re-election.
Looks like Jefferson County, Colorado Sheriff’s Dept. is run by a Dupnik wannabe…
As the years passed, Bell’s expertise and reputation grew alongside her rabbit farm. Not only did she become president of the local Long’s Peak Rabbit Club, but she became known as the go-to “resource person” for 4-H kids in Colorado who were interested in rabbits. Her reputation as a top expert when it comes to understanding and caring for rabbits spread throughout Colorado and across the United States. But that was before the raid.
Since breaking news about a July 21 raid on a farm 12 miles north of Denver that resulted in local law enforcement officials seizing 193 rabbits from a nationally-recognized rabbit expert, I’ve learned more disturbing details about the case. Perhaps least shocking was my discovery that members of the Denver-area news media appear to have swallowed everything thrown at them by the Jefferson County (Colo.) Sheriff’s Office.
California tends to lead the way for other US states, which in the past was mostly good. But now the Golden State is about to become a Third World country, complete with deteriorating public services and a permanent, volatile underclass. Those “London burning” pictures will be replicated in LA before too long.

Oh Joy! Just what we need is yet another Liberal Locust (Californian ‘Libertarian’=Obama Democrat) who wants to run away from the mess they have made in California but they always forget to leave their lefty/liberal nanny state attitudes and voting habits at the border. Dear California: I’m Leaving You. Here’s Why…
BTW, You might wish to read these, hun, and then you perhaps will understand why I think of you as a Locust. I have seen too many formerly decent places to live “Californicated” over the past 30 years.
Unfortunately, its wealth provided the slack resources sufficient to allow the citizens to embrace ideas that undermined this very wealth and its ultimate sources. Nowadays, Serra promoted genocide, the engineering feats have destroyed the environment, and the oil resources are a blight. The ideas and beliefs that have decimated California, are in fact, shared by huge swathes of the populace. In spite of their suffering in the world they helped create, when many of these business owners and workers move to other places they bring their dumb ideas with them. Trust me, they may be economic refugees, but they will be the first to start kvetching about the refineries down the road.
Lord knows we’ve seen plenty of that in the sunny South, where, over the last couple or three decades, we had a tremendous influx of Northeastern liberals who had so fouled their own nests they had to flee here to escape the mess they had made…whereupon they immediately started to complain about how backwards and provincial we all were. Which, in turn, is why you still see the occasional bumper sticker here that declares “We don’t give a DAMN how you did it up North.”
Experience shows us they won’t.
I moved to Nevada 23 years ago, not from California, and we’ve seen a massive influx of former Golden State residents during that time. Californians are infamous for exporting their problems with them.
Far too many California refugees make no connection between the conditions that caused them to leave and the policies that created those conditions. They complain about the high cost of living in their former state then demand the same level of regulatory controls, government “services” and tax burden in their new home.
Nevada has gone from a relative bastion of libertarianism to a state with an increasingly stifling regulatory morass, a glacial bureaucracy and an ever-intrusive nanny state.
I’m sure you can find similar sentiments expressed by other residents in Nevada as well as Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Colorado and other states the millions of Californians ex-pats have chosen to take up residence during the last couple decades.
The Obama regime is desperately trying to kill off their economy just like they are doing to every Red state… More Records for N. Dakota’s Booming Oil Economy
Bottom Line: North Dakota’s impressive economic success clearly illustrates some of the benefits of domestic energy production: ongoing job growth, a jobless rate close to 3%, record-setting economic growth, and a bubble-resistant housing market. There’s no reason that the economic success of North Dakota can’t be duplicated elsewhere, if we would only open up more U.S. land and off-shore areas to domestic energy exploration and drilling.

MSM Circus and Celebutard Side Show:
Anyone who doubts that the liberal media goes out of its way to create and exacerbate racial tension must have missed this clip of CNN’s repugnant Don Lemon asking Herman Cain if he really thinks any white people will vote for him
Vetting this control dynamic is especially helpful during the primary process. Primary voters in a party out of power are aching for the person who best understands what is wrong with the party in power and who can best lead a turn around of the problems that party has created. They are not served by an arrogant Chris Wallace asking a question in August based on a question Wallace himself asked in May. The obsession the Fox team had with their own prior interviews was nauseating, unsettling and frankly childish.
And memo to the normally reasonable Byron York: that question about Michelle Bachmann and her husband and the Biblical passage of marital submission? Really? Why don’t you ask someone about Constitutional Submission?
Of course, shedding relevant light is not the media template. To the media figure, questions that do that might seem like softball questions and they would reflect poorly on the journalist. Well fine. Presidential debates are not about the journalists’ reputations. At least they shouldn’t be.
Perhaps it is time to totally rethink some debate assumptions, at least from the party standpoint during the primary process. The Jurassic media is really not a necessary ingredient in this process in this day of the new media and the social media. Engaged primary voters, who are the entire ballgame at this juncture, are easily able to follow the candidates through talk radio and the internet — including the social media.
There are people who illegally enter the United States from Mexico who gain a better command of the English language within the first twenty four hours they are here than Al has in his fifty six years as a United States resident.

Chris Matthews is the quintessetial Progressive, woman hating, fey, Obama dirty jock strap sniffer who gets a viagra induced tingle up his lonely thigh whenever the name Obama is mentioned.
(Insert big sigh from Chris here) SIGH!
I meant that to be derogatory but it does seem to read as his bona fides for having his own show on BSNBC.
Matthews can kiss the ass of this Texan. He can pick the time and the place. Hell, he can call me Barack while he performs the act, since that seems to be what floats his boat.
Nice to see MSNBC has given up any pretense of being an actual news organization.
The transgression comes only when the editor pretends—as Brown has with the Bachmann and Diana covers—that she wasn’t playing let’s-goose-the-public with sensationalist images. Obvious lies, such as Brown’s about merely trying to convey “intensity” with the Bachmann portrait, end up conveying contempt for the reader. And that’s not a pretty picture.
No, it’s not. But the basic “progressive” assumption is that they’re smarter than everyone else. Arrogance is their stock-in-trade, and contempt is merely ugly the flip side of it, which they’d rather nobody notice.
Set phasers to . . . fabulous.

So, a big thank you to everyone involved in the adoption of these profligate new mouse traps (both hybrids and the CFLs) that perform half as well as the originals they are intended to replace and cost up to 1000 times more. Thank you Congress! Thank you GE. Thank you EPA! Thank you idiot, ideological MSM! Thank you, all you sheeple who are too busy, too lazy or too dumb to think for yourselves! Oh, and a special shout-out to Al Gore, the political, spiritual, and material leader of these flacks.
Consider the afternoon of August 2, when electricity demand hit 67,929 megawatts. Although electricity demand and prices were peaking, output from the state’s wind turbines was just 1,500 megawatts, or about 15 percent of their total nameplate capacity. Put another way, wind energy was able to provide only about 2.2 percent of the total power demand even though the installed capacity of Texas’s wind turbines theoretically equals nearly 15 percent of peak demand. This was no anomaly. On four days in August 2010, when electricity demand set records, wind energy was able to contribute just 1, 2, 1, and 1 percent, respectively, of total demand.
Over the past few years, about $17 billion has been spent installing wind turbines in Texas. Another $8 billion has been allocated for transmission lines to carry the electricity generated by the turbines to distant cities. And now, Texas ratepayers are on the hook for much of that $25 billion, even though they can’t count on the wind to keep their air conditioners running when temperatures soar.
That $25 billion could have been used to build about 5,000 megawatts of highly reliable nuclear generation capacity, or as much as 25,000 megawatts of natural-gas-fired capacity, all of which could have been reliably put to work during the hottest days of summer.
