NOTE: As far as I know there is no government/private northern hemisphere airborne radiation tracking/forecasting map available to the public online anymore. They have all been shut down. if I find another one I will post it.
Well, it was all farce, then; that TEPCO installed the air filtering system and claimed that the radioactive materials inside the Reactor 1 reactor building got safe enough (they were saying a few millisieverts to 10s of millisieverts/hour) for the workers to go in and start working.
Unless the “new normal” for Fukushima I Nuke Plant is to count the radiation in sieverts.
The so-called “water entombment” is officially dead now. TEPCO has poured over 10,000 tons of water inside the RPV. Now they say they’ve found 3,000 tons of it. Where’s the rest, 7,000 tons?
Do you remember when the leftwing media used to count all the fatalities in Iraq and Afghanistan? Do you remember how the peace activists would march in all the major cities and the newspapers would report all the innocent civilian casualties? And, do remember when the media would even make up stories to show how bad things were in Iraq?
Well, that was when we had a Republican as president.
Suddenly, it’s not such a big deal anymore.
Yesterday, tens of thousands marched in Cairo and Jordan in remembrance of “Nakba” (Naqba) a word meaning “catastrophe” that Arabs use to describe the creation of Israel in 1948. One Palestinian rock-throwing teen died during Friday’s rioting in East Jerusalem.

A U.S. citizen of Pakistani descent, four family members and another man were charged by federal prosecutors with providing “material support” to the Pakistani Taliban.
Three of those indicted, including two South Florida imams, have been arrested, according to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Justice. Three others are at large in Pakistan. All are charged with conspiring to support a conspiracy to murder, maim and kidnap persons overseas as well as supporting the Pakistani Taliban.
Named in the indictment are Hafiz Muhammed Sher Ali Khan, 76, of Miami; two of his sons, Irfan Khan, 37, of Miami, and Izhar Khan, 24, of North Lauderdale, Florida, also U.S. citizens; and Ali Rehman, Alam Zeb, and Amina Khan. All are originally from Pakistan, the Justice Department said.

The water is expected to stay in some areas for two months! Mississippi River flood threat sends residents near Morganza Floodway scrambling
Mildred Roberts, who is running the store for her sister while she recovers from surgery, said everyone who walks in seems to be struggling to come to terms with predictions of near-biblical flooding.
“They’re all so scared, and with good reason. At 15 feet, only the peak of the roof would be showing,” she said. “I don’t believe that. I just can’t believe that. Hopefully, I’m right and God is with me.”
Here are some flood projection maps from the Corps of Engineers…

The Obama Administration sent aid to Mexico to battle a 386 square mile fire but refused to consider the 2.5 million acre fire in Texas a disaster area.
Gov. Rick Perry again yesterday renewed his emergency disaster proclamation for the fifth time since it was originally issued on Dec. 21, 2010 due to the ongoing threat of wildfires across the state. The renewed proclamation covers all 254 counties in Texas, and directs all necessary resources be made available to aid response efforts. Since the beginning of wildfire season, local and state firefighters have responded to more than 9,000 fires that have destroyed more than 400 homes and burned more than 2.5 million acres, an area the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined.
And here is where Druckenmiller joins the Grosses and the Granthams of the world. Asked if the future is not so bad judging by today’s low bond rates he says, “Complete nonsense. It’s not a free market. It’s not a clean market.” The Federal Reserve is doing much of the buying of Treasury bonds lately through its “quantitative easing” (QE) program, he points out. “The market isn’t saying anything about the future. It’s saying there’s a phony buyer of $19 billion of Treasurys a week.” Of course, there is another name for this type of arrangement and so far only Bill Gross has used it: Ponzi Scheme.
A must read…In the Shadow of Soros’ Smile
This will come as a surprise to collectivists, but employment is a side effect of a free market economy, not its purpose. Where there is freedom, a company hires people because it expects to get its money’s worth out of the labor they provide.
The more the government intrudes, the more of an unreasonable commitment hiring becomes. The more Obama’s ham-fisted socialist policies create a climate of fear, the fewer companies will find it sensible to take on such commitments. This is why socialist countries like France generally have unemployment rates two or three times those of America’s.
Not to worry, liberals have the solution. Unemployment was never much of a problem in the Soviet Union, where two men would share the full-time job of watching a single cow graze. There was plenty of money too, because the government printed all the cash people could want.
There was nothing to buy with the money, since the economy didn’t produce anything. But our progressive rulers tell us we shouldn’t be such materialists anyway.
But what our current “elite” have is an incredible hubris, and belief that their very, very limited skill-set is some sort of omni-toolkit for solving any problem, granting them instant deep expertise in any subject they survey. So more and more they are actively hostile to those who actually do things in this country, more and more reliant exclusively upon the power of their mutual affirmations and reaffirmations, a human chain of signal repeaters, all broadcasting the same thin, limited, often-wrong information.
And they only look to that signal for solutions to problems. Others, those beneath Our Class, have little to contribute. Oh, if someone is a Celebrity — a Celebrity Singer (Bono) or Celebrity Scientist (James Hansen), then their counsel can be sought; but of course such people are honorary members of the leadership class.
It will not end well, but it will end.
‘People aren’t going to wonder whether 20 years ago we delayed an interest payment for six days. They’re going to wonder whether we got our house in order.’
I haven’t read a whole lot of people who resist the “ZOMFG we have to raise the debt ceiling now or we’re all gonna die!!!” message coming out of the administration, but the mere fact that it’s the drumbeat of the left should give you pause. It sure does for this guy:
Mr. Druckenmiller is puzzled that so many financial commentators see the possible failure to raise the debt ceiling as more serious than the possibility that the government will accumulate too much debt. “I’m just flabbergasted that we’re getting all this commentary about catastrophic consequences, including from the chairman of the Federal Reserve, about this situation but none of these guys bothered to write letters or whatever about the real situation which is we’re piling up trillions of dollars of debt.”
The House GOP needs to go to the mattresses on this and force the donks to make real structural changes that reduce the deficit and debt in exchange for any temporary increase in the debt ceiling.
Even “if Congress promises not to increase federal government spending as a precondition,” anti-debt increase fervor remained. Some 51% were still opposed to raising the debt ceiling — including 30% strongly opposed. Only 40% supporting raising the limit, including just 13% strongly in support.
Most of those polled see through Bernanke’s and Geithner’s hysterics. As Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., told MSNBC on Wednesday, “If we were never to raise the debt limit at all, the Treasury would still take in 70% of all the money they planned to spend in the form of tax revenue,” which is “more than 10 times the revenue needed to avoid a default.”
I wonder how his friends in Hollywood will feel about a 66% cut in box office receipts — or how his friends at Time-Warner-HBO will feel when everyone cuts their cable off. Surely the Wall Street firms that he and President Bush bailed out to the tune of $700 billion will be hurt when everyone drops their 401ks.
But everyone has to have skin in the game.
Everyone except the government, that is.
George W. Bush tried many times to get the Democrats help to reform Social Security before it was too late. They demagogued it and now it is too late….Trustees Show Permanent Deficits for Social Security
In another feeble effort to goose the economy, President Obama and a Democratic Congress in November sliced from 6.2% to 4.2% the Social Security tax for 2011.
How did that work out?
Unemployment was 9% in April.
And Social Security will be broke in 15 years — in part due to Obama’s irresponsible slashing of the Social Security tax for this year.
The Associated Press report did not mention this action that undermined Social Security finances.
I wonder why.
As a society, we may choose to provide people in need with healthcare, education, food, housing, and clothing because we’re compassionate people. But, there’s a world of moral, legal, and logical differences between our choice to do that and declaring it to be a “right.” A right implies that whether you like it or not, whether you’re compensated or not, you have no choice other than to provide another human being with goods and services.
Calling it a “right” instead of slavery may make it sound better, but it doesn’t make it okay.
At a recent town hall meeting in Nevada, President Obama bellowed: “Four billion dollars of your money are going to these companies when they’re making record profits and you’re paying near-record prices at the pump. This has got to stop.”
Better to spend those billions subsidizing electric cars made by Government Motors? How many of those Democrats arrived at the hearing in Chevy Volts? Or maybe we should guarantee more Export-Import Bank loans to Brazil for their offshore drilling? Oh, we forgot: Petrobras, their state-owned oil company and the Democrats share a common investor, one George Soros.
While this charade was going on, the House on Thursday passed the Reversing President Obama’s Offshore Moratorium Act. It would require lease sales within five years for drilling in areas off Southern California, the East Coast and Alaska and speed up permitting for energy exploration in the Gulf of Mexico.
President Obama announced Saturday the government would hold annual onshore lease sales in Alaska’s National Petroleum Reserve; extend the life of leases in the Gulf of Mexico and in some areas off the coast of Alaska for one year; speed up ongoing Interior Department testing in the mid- and south-Atlantic to gauge the level of resources; and establish an interagency task force to coordinate permitting for offshore drilling in Alaska.
The White House is making the policy shifts after taking intense criticism from Republicans in recent weeks over energy policy as gas prices have topped $4 per gallon in some parts of the country.A week ago Obama said something entirely different.
“We can’t just drill our way out of the problem,” Obama said during an energy policy speech in Indiana Friday. “If we’re serious about addressing our energy problems, we’re going to have to do more than drill.”
That was last Friday. I guess demonizing the oil companies isn’t having the desired effect.

At the beginning of 2011 the portfolio of the federal government for education loans was nearly one trillion dollars. The portfolio consisted of loans for students currently in college extended either directly by the Department of Education or loans from financial institutions like Sallie Mae and banks with repayment guaranteed by the United States Treasury as well the education loans of students who had graduated from college or had quit before graduating but had not been fully repaid. Its size exceeded the credit card debt of the American population in early 2011 and it continues to grow; whatever part remains unpaid contributes to the national debt.
Your tax dollars at work…GM Will Spend $109 Million To Preserve 96 Michigan Jobs
And so we get another example of government efficiency at work. The still taxpayer funded General Motors has just announced it will spend $109 million to keep and add 96 jobs. This amounts to $1.135 million per employee. That’s right, a carmaker is about to spend on a per worker basis, roughly what an average Goldman worker makes in base+bonus… in the hub of wage expansion, Michigan.
Imagine the shame of having to explain to George Washington why we let America come to this.

Obama’s immigration speech was meant to gin up votes, not advance sound policy.
From the “Even the Devil can quote scripture to suit his purposes” department…Obama Quotes Scripture to Defend Illegal Aliens by Comparing Them to the Enslaved Jews Leaving Egypt
I’m second generation from immigrant grandparents on my mother’s side (third on my father’s side). I know from my grandparents’ lips what they had to go through in order to get here at Ellis Island, post WWI, with their families who had next to nothing to bring. There were no government programs here for them to sponge from. They worked hard at several jobs to begin building a life in this country, all the while doing it legally through the proper immigration channels to citizenship. I saw the old books they studied from, as they struggled to learn English at the same time, and the legal citizenship documents they achieved. They never took that accomplishment lightly, and never hyphenated themselves. They were Americans. This man’s analogy and moral equivalence are despicable. But I don’t know what’s worse … This, or his erroneous use of the plight of the Jews to make his argument when for the last two and a half years he’s crapped all over Israel.
The candidate failed to mention what his campaign website makes clear—under his amnesty proposal, before all of the tough paying of fines and learning English requirements, illegals would be eligible immediately for temporary residency cards that make them legal.
Most states allow legal residents to get a driver’s license, and all states are required (under the federal “Motor Voter” law) to register driver’s license applicants as voters.
Jackpot! Eleven million new registered Democrat voters just in time for 2012.
You might want to put some ice on that, Mr. President.

I bet the TSA groped every granny and little kid and searched every babies diaper but let this guy walk right on through….What Happened on AA Flight 1561
So how, despite a massive transportation and homeland security apparatus, did al-Murisi get into this country and get on a plane? He had no keys, no luggage, $47 cash, two curious posted checks totaling $13,000, and a trove of expired and current state IDs from New York and California — where relatives said he had not notified them that he was coming. He is young, male, brought no family with him, had no job or other discernible income, and hails from the terror-coddling nation of Yemen. Yes, the same Yemen that is Osama bin Laden’s ancestral home, harbors al-Qaida operatives who are burning the “torch of jihad,” and is deemed a “special interest country” whose citizens warrant increased scrutiny by DHS when they cross the border illegally.
As I reported last month, a federal watchdog revealed that TSA’s counterterrorism specialists failed to detect 16 separate jihad operatives who moved through target airports “on at least 23 different occasions.” Neutered by Islamophobia-phobia and an “overtime over security” mentality, our State Department consular offices’ and airline security bureaucracy’s stance toward the al-Murisis slipping through their snaking lines is:
Nothing to see here; move along.
No, according to the San Francisco Political-Correctness squads, we are supposed to believe that a Yemeni with no job, no luggage, two inexplicable checks for $15,000, on a coast-to-coast flight with no known purpose (even the Muslims claiming to be his “family” did not know he was flying to San Francisco) who rushes an airline cockpit screaming, “Allah Akhbar!” is a just a poor, misunderstood, unhappy…nutjob. And please let him go home to his “family.”
But a December 15 meeting, listed as “OFA VOLUNTEER MEETING” caught my eye.
The day after, Politico reported that it was a meeting between the president and party volunteers to essentially survey the carnage following the November election.
“President Obama will meet at the White House today with seven Organizing for America volunteers for what’s billed as a ‘Report to the President’ on the midterms,” DNC spokeswoman Lynda Tran told POLITICO.
The Politico article (innocently) gives the impression that this was a group of lowly citizens giving their feedback to their dear leader.
It was anything but.
According to the logs, 8 OFA/DNC professional operatives were at the meeting. They were Lucas Fleischer, “DNC Creative Director;” William Gordon, “DNC Online Tools Manager;” David Grossman, a “Rapid Response Video Producer;” Tiina Knuutila, “Senior Video Producer for the New Media Team at DNC/OFA;” Jessica Livoti, “Online Activist Manager, OFA/DNC;” Matthew Lubin, “Media Administrator, DNC;” Reed Petty, “DNC Media Center Director;” and Brad Schenck, a “Region Field Director” for Organizing for America.
No names of common-folk volunteers could be found.
…a serious blow to the effectiveness of America’s sharpest direct action and counterterror force – though arguably not as serious as the potential endangerment to the families of America’s servicemembers, as a result of their superiors in government being unable or unwilling to keep their traps shut about classified missions and personnel.
Victor David Hanson: The Strange Case of John Brennan
I am mystified by the various metamorphoses and general weirdness in the recent statements from John Brennan, Obama’s anti-terrorism czar. Since 2009, two characteristics unfortunately distinguish his all-too-frequent public proclamations: post-facto attacks on the prior administration whose anti-terrorism protocols he was knee-deep in, and commentary on current events that is either silly or soon proves untrue.
Why the hell is this story – certainly one of the best in recent years – so screwed up?
Think I’m kidding? No, I’m not. The kind of pornography a man looks at it gives us a certain insight into him. I can’t even begin to guess what excited bin Laden’s twisted brain. It could be something quite banal or something, shall we say, rather outré. I leave that to your imagination. But whatever it is, it would be interesting.

Look for the Union Label/The Badger Rebellion:
This tactic is similar to the attempts by Democrats in the Prosser-Kloppenburg recount to throw out thousands of valid votes because of supposedly improperly sealed ballot bags, even though the recount totals match almost precisely the election night and canvass totals. But of course, Kloppenburg only worries about such ballot bag security in places which votes heavily for Prosser.
In both the Wirch recall effort and the Kloppenburg recount effort, Democrats seek to have election officials (and ultimately the courts I suspect) throw out votes and signatures as to which there is absolutely no evidence of fraud, based upon speculation, conjecture, and conspiracy theories.
So the next time you hear a Wisconsin Democrat demand that every vote be counted and every vote count, don’t believe it, because they don’t.
In Other News…
No, you read it right. That’s what the Indiana Supreme Court decided in what would be a laughable finding if it wasn’t so serious:
Overturning a common law dating back to the English Magna Carta of 1215, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Hoosiers have no right to resist unlawful police entry into their homes.
The author of the story reporting this is right – somehow the ISC managed, in one fell swoop, to overturn almost 900 years of precedent, going back to the Magna Carta.
In a 3-2 decision, Justice Steven David writing for the court said if a police officer wants to enter a home for any reason or no reason at all, a homeowner cannot do anything to block the officer’s entry. [emphasis mine]
Or said another way, your home is no longer your castle.

Palin’s plans with respect to a 2012 presidential run remain to be seen, but rest assured that plenty of haters are already working overtime to distort and deceive. Their hope is to tarnish the attributes Palin appears to possess that have resonated with so many Americans — a down-to-earth authenticity, an expertise with respect to energy issues, an unshakeable faith in God and an equally strong commitment to her family, as well as a genuine concern for the struggles of regular, hard-working Americans, to name just a few.
Some Palin-haters will twist and turn the truth in an effort to promote and solidify the caricature of Palin that so many on the left, in the GOP establishment, and in the media elite have worked so hard to perfect. Others will continue to ignore her written and spoken commentary on matters of supreme national and international importance, opting instead to cling to any word or phrase she utters that can somehow be generated into a traffic-grabbing — and image-busting — headline.

Facebook is two faced…Facebook, Foe of Anonymity, Is Forced to Explain a Secret
“Having two identities for yourself is an example of a lack of integrity,” Mr. Zuckerberg has said.
Now, Facebook is being taken to task for trying to conceal its own identity as it sought to coax reporters and technology experts to write critical stories about the privacy implications of a search feature, Social Circle, from its rival, Google.
The plan backfired after The Daily Beast revealed late Wednesday that Facebook, whose own privacy practices have long been criticized, was behind the effort. It didn’t help that some of the technology experts who were encouraged to criticize Google dismissed the privacy concerns around Social Circle as misplaced.
Donors are increasingly aware that universities routinely (and unfortunately) perform a bait and switch. Grants to study free markets create self-sustaining hives of academic Marxists, gifts to create Christian lecture series turn into annual celebrations of atheism, and grandchildren watch in horror as their grandparents’ wealth is used to fund, advance, and sustain values their grandparents would find abhorrent. Simply put, the ideological monoculture has proven that it can’t be trusted with donor money, so savvy foundations are looking for ways to fund education without funding indoctrination.
MSM Circus and Celebutard Side Show:
Looks like the Washington Post has our guys’ back — with a knife squarely planted in it.
No worse than any televangelist who’s been caught with their pants down. You suppose the Times would be worried about the image of, say, Pat Robertson if he were caught with a huge porn stash?
We doubt it. But the most evil man on the planet? Well, they’re worried about accusations of hypocrisy and his lasting public image.
Obama is starting to throw the MSM under the bus. I guess the pimpslapping of his MSM ‘ho’s’ to get them back in line isn’t working as well as he thought it would…
Cramer was especially incensed by what he saw as the political unfairness behind Stewart’s attack. “They wanted to make me the Face of the Era, and they succeeded. Rick Santelli’s a conservative. Ideological. O.K., I get that. But me? I was very anti-Bush. I’m a Democrat, I’ve got the canceled checks to prove it, and suddenly I’m the enemy? Me? Me?”
What is going on at the White House? First, Obama announces that he will no longer provide ‘staged’ news photos for reporters. Then, today it was announced that the White House will ‘go dark,’ that is, the press today was barred from live-casting the daily news briefings provided by Press Secretary Jay Carney.
Increasingly the White House is distancing itself from news reporters, withholding vital information from the press and the public, and essentially dictating to the media when and where they are allowed to video or take pictures of the President.
Mark my words, this is all intentional. Governor Huckabee is using the power of art to reach children and no one understands that power better than the Left. And they want this turf all to themselves. And in response our corrupt MSM goes, doo-de-do-de-do-doo-do-do… Because they agree with Maddow and her vicious tactics.
There is only one problem with this scenario, Mother Nature isn’t being cooperative. You see it is true that sea level has risen during the 20th century and probably well before that. Scientists estimate that sea level has increased by 7 inches during the 2oth century.
The climate change hoaxers use computer models to predict that sea levels would rise anywhere from 15 inches to 2o feet because of global warming in the 21st century (the consensus number is closer to 3 feet).
But Mother Nature was never good at computer science. Satellite data proved that the first decade of the 21st century sea level grew by only 0.83 inches (a pace of just 8 inches for the entire century). What’s even worse (for the global warming hoaxers) there has been no rise since 2006. Now I know that some Democrats believe that Obama is a miracle worker, but even the the crazies at the Daily Kos would admit that controlling sea level is way above his pay grade.
Or, they could actually reduce their own impact on Gaia. Maybe go find a cave and leave the rest of us alone….hey, doesn’t a big conference in a major world city have a “significant and profound” impact on Gaia?
Climate Depot reported that more than 1,000 scientists “have now challenged man-made global warming claims made by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and former Vice President Al Gore.”
As Marc Morano of Climate Depot pointed out that is 20 times the number of scientists (52) that signed on to the IPCC report that won a Nobel Peace Prize (not a Nobel science prize).
Since that Nobel in 2007, secret e-mails from climatologists revealed a cover-up of numerous errors and the fudging of numbers in the report that listed none of the benefits global warming would produce. The head of the IPCC had to apologize for the errors. Peer reviews of the report overlooked the fact that some of the “scientific data” came from a press release from the World Wildlife Federation, a tax exempt corporation that lobbies for more government control of industry.
