Pair of Florida Imams Among Six Busted for Aiding Taliban
A U.S. citizen of Pakistani descent, four family members and another man were charged by federal prosecutors with providing “material support” to the Pakistani Taliban.
Three of those indicted, including two South Florida imams, have been arrested, according to a statement released by the U.S. Department of Justice. Three others are at large in Pakistan. All are charged with conspiring to support a conspiracy to murder, maim and kidnap persons overseas as well as supporting the Pakistani Taliban.

Gov. Rick Perry again yesterday renewed his emergency disaster proclamation for the fifth time since it was originally issued on Dec. 21, 2010 due to the ongoing threat of wildfires across the state. The renewed proclamation covers all 254 counties in Texas, and directs all necessary resources be made available to aid response efforts. Since the beginning of wildfire season, local and state firefighters have responded to more than 9,000 fires that have destroyed more than 400 homes and burned more than 2.5 million acres, an area the size of Rhode Island and Delaware combined.

This will come as a surprise to collectivists, but employment is a side effect of a free market economy, not its purpose. Where there is freedom, a company hires people because it expects to get its money’s worth out of the labor they provide.
The more the government intrudes, the more of an unreasonable commitment hiring becomes. The more Obama’s ham-fisted socialist policies create a climate of fear, the fewer companies will find it sensible to take on such commitments. This is why socialist countries like France generally have unemployment rates two or three times those of America’s.
Not to worry, liberals have the solution. Unemployment was never much of a problem in the Soviet Union, where two men would share the full-time job of watching a single cow graze. There was plenty of money too, because the government printed all the cash people could want.
There was nothing to buy with the money, since the economy didn’t produce anything. But our progressive rulers tell us we shouldn’t be such materialists anyway.
But what our current “elite” have is an incredible hubris, and belief that their very, very limited skill-set is some sort of omni-toolkit for solving any problem, granting them instant deep expertise in any subject they survey. So more and more they are actively hostile to those who actually do things in this country, more and more reliant exclusively upon the power of their mutual affirmations and reaffirmations, a human chain of signal repeaters, all broadcasting the same thin, limited, often-wrong information.
And they only look to that signal for solutions to problems. Others, those beneath Our Class, have little to contribute. Oh, if someone is a Celebrity — a Celebrity Singer (Bono) or Celebrity Scientist (James Hansen), then their counsel can be sought; but of course such people are honorary members of the leadership class.
It will not end well, but it will end.

I haven’t read a whole lot of people who resist the “ZOMFG we have to raise the debt ceiling now or we’re all gonna die!!!” message coming out of the administration, but the mere fact that it’s the drumbeat of the left should give you pause. It sure does for this guy:

The House GOP needs to go to the mattresses on this and force the donks to make real structural changes that reduce the deficit and debt in exchange for any temporary increase in the debt ceiling.

Even “if Congress promises not to increase federal government spending as a precondition,” anti-debt increase fervor remained. Some 51% were still opposed to raising the debt ceiling — including 30% strongly opposed. Only 40% supporting raising the limit, including just 13% strongly in support.
Most of those polled see through Bernanke’s and Geithner’s hysterics. As Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., told MSNBC on Wednesday, “If we were never to raise the debt limit at all, the Treasury would still take in 70% of all the money they planned to spend in the form of tax revenue,” which is “more than 10 times the revenue needed to avoid a default.”
I wonder how his friends in Hollywood will feel about a 66% cut in box office receipts — or how his friends at Time-Warner-HBO will feel when everyone cuts their cable off. Surely the Wall Street firms that he and President Bush bailed out to the tune of $700 billion will be hurt when everyone drops their 401ks.
But everyone has to have skin in the game.

In another feeble effort to goose the economy, President Obama and a Democratic Congress in November sliced from 6.2% to 4.2% the Social Security tax for 2011.
How did that work out?
Unemployment was 9% in April.
And Social Security will be broke in 15 years — in part due to Obama’s irresponsible slashing of the Social Security tax for this year.
The Associated Press report did not mention this action that undermined Social Security finances.

At a recent town hall meeting in Nevada, President Obama bellowed: “Four billion dollars of your money are going to these companies when they’re making record profits and you’re paying near-record prices at the pump. This has got to stop.”
Better to spend those billions subsidizing electric cars made by Government Motors? How many of those Democrats arrived at the hearing in Chevy Volts? Or maybe we should guarantee more Export-Import Bank loans to Brazil for their offshore drilling? Oh, we forgot: Petrobras, their state-owned oil company and the Democrats share a common investor, one George Soros.
While this charade was going on, the House on Thursday passed the Reversing President Obama’s Offshore Moratorium Act. It would require lease sales within five years for drilling in areas off Southern California, the East Coast and Alaska and speed up permitting for energy exploration in the Gulf of Mexico.

“We can’t just drill our way out of the problem,” Obama said during an energy policy speech in Indiana Friday. “If we’re serious about addressing our energy problems, we’re going to have to do more than drill.”

The day after, Politico reported that it was a meeting between the president and party volunteers to essentially survey the carnage following the November election.
“President Obama will meet at the White House today with seven Organizing for America volunteers for what’s billed as a ‘Report to the President’ on the midterms,” DNC spokeswoman Lynda Tran told POLITICO.
The Politico article (innocently) gives the impression that this was a group of lowly citizens giving their feedback to their dear leader.

According to the logs, 8 OFA/DNC professional operatives were at the meeting. They were Lucas Fleischer, “DNC Creative Director;” William Gordon, “DNC Online Tools Manager;” David Grossman, a “Rapid Response Video Producer;” Tiina Knuutila, “Senior Video Producer for the New Media Team at DNC/OFA;” Jessica Livoti, “Online Activist Manager, OFA/DNC;” Matthew Lubin, “Media Administrator, DNC;” Reed Petty, “DNC Media Center Director;” and Brad Schenck, a “Region Field Director” for Organizing for America.

Wisconsin Dems Seek To Throw Out Legitimate Votes and Recall Signatures
This tactic is similar to the attempts by Democrats in the Prosser-Kloppenburg recount to throw out thousands of valid votes because of supposedly improperly sealed ballot bags, even though the recount totals match almost precisely the election night and canvass totals. But of course, Kloppenburg only worries about such ballot bag security in places which votes heavily for Prosser.
In both the Wirch recall effort and the Kloppenburg recount effort, Democrats seek to have election officials (and ultimately the courts I suspect) throw out votes and signatures as to which there is absolutely no evidence of fraud, based upon speculation, conjecture, and conspiracy theories.
So the next time you hear a Wisconsin Democrat demand that every vote be counted and every vote count, don’t believe it, because they don’t.

No, you read it right. That’s what the Indiana Supreme Court decided in what would be a laughable finding if it wasn’t so serious:
Overturning a common law dating back to the English Magna Carta of 1215, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled Thursday that Hoosiers have no right to resist unlawful police entry into their homes.
The author of the story reporting this is right – somehow the ISC managed, in one fell swoop, to overturn almost 900 years of precedent, going back to the Magna Carta.
In a 3-2 decision, Justice Steven David writing for the court said if a police officer wants to enter a home for any reason or no reason at all, a homeowner cannot do anything to block the officer’s entry. [emphasis mine]
Or said another way, your home is no longer your castle.

The plan backfired after The Daily Beast revealed late Wednesday that Facebook, whose own privacy practices have long been criticized, was behind the effort. It didn’t help that some of the technology experts who were encouraged to criticize Google dismissed the privacy concerns around Social Circle as misplaced.

Grants to study free markets create self-sustaining hives of academic Marxists, gifts to create Christian lecture series turn into annual celebrations of atheism, and grandchildren watch in horror as their grandparents’ wealth is used to fund, advance, and sustain values their grandparents would find abhorrent. Then, today it was announced that the White House will ‘go dark,’ that is, the press today was barred from live-casting the daily news briefings provided by Press Secretary Jay Carney.
Increasingly the White House is distancing itself from news reporters, withholding vital information from the press and the public, and essentially dictating to the media when and where they are allowed to video or take pictures of the President.

NASA Gets Caught Faking Climate Change Data-AGAIN!
There is only one problem with this scenario, Mother Nature isn’t being cooperative. You see it is true that sea level has risen during the 20th century and probably well before that. Scientists estimate that sea level has increased by 7 inches during the 2oth century.
The climate change hoaxers use computer models to predict that sea levels would rise anywhere from 15 inches to 2o feet because of global warming in the 21st century (the consensus number is closer to 3 feet).
But Mother Nature was never good at computer science. Satellite data proved that the first decade of the 21st century sea level grew by only 0.83 inches (a pace of just 8 inches for the entire century). What’s even worse (for the global warming hoaxers) there has been no rise since 2006. Now I know that some Democrats believe that Obama is a miracle worker, but even the the crazies at the Daily Kos would admit that controlling sea level is way above his pay grade.

Scientists: Global Warming is a hoax
Climate Depot reported that more than 1,000 scientists “have now challenged man-made global warming claims made by the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and former Vice President Al Gore.”
As Marc Morano of Climate Depot pointed out that is 20 times the number of scientists (52) that signed on to the IPCC report that won a Nobel Peace Prize (not a Nobel science prize).
Since that Nobel in 2007, secret e-mails from climatologists revealed a cover-up of numerous errors and the fudging of numbers in the report that listed none of the benefits global warming would produce. The head of the IPCC had to apologize for the errors. Peer reviews of the report overlooked the fact that some of the “scientific data” came from a press release from the World Wildlife Federation, a tax exempt corporation that lobbies for more government control of industry.
