Ouattara’s government Saturday night accused U.N. peacekeepers of abandoning civilians there to vengeful militiamen fighting for incumbent Laurent Gbagbo, who refuses to accept his election defeat.
READ. THE. WHOLE. THING. Life and death — lots of death — in Africa
Every time I read a story such as this out of Africa — whether about the Ivory Coast, or Rwanda, or Liberia, or the Republic of Congo, or any other African nation riven by violence — I ask the trite and logical question “why?” What is it about Africa that makes significant segments of that continent prone to violence?
And what violence it is. There’s a barbarity to the African violence that makes Westerners quail. Africa seems to lead the world in child soldiers. Worse (if such a thing can be worse), these soldiers don’t get indoctrinated in their youth and naturally drift into warfare (which is the Islamist way doing things). Instead, they’re created when other soldiers slaughter the adults in the village and kidnap the children. The girls are raped and killed, or kept as whores, and the boys, no matter how young, are put on the front lines.
The African killing gangs display unusual imagination and innovation when it comes to devising horrible ways to kill their enemies. Squeezing tires around them and setting the tires alight, chopping off limbs, savage machete attacks, literally raping women and girls to death — Africa has seen it all. These dreadful deaths are not confined to one geographic area. They span the continent from the southern-most tip, to the central areas, to the furthest northeastern or southeastern coasts.
The creation of Azania was celebrated Sunday in a colorful ceremony in Kenya’s capital. Its creation brings the total number of new states to more than 10.
Kenya supports the new administration as it creates a buffer zone near its border with Somalia.
This suggests an obvious remedy for the whole situation: send Mel Gibson to Libya. Makes more sense than Obama’s policy.
Remind me again, why are we shedding American blood and treasure to keep this guy in power?
How’s that Muslim outreach working out for you, Barry? Get the hell out of Afghanistan NOW.
Larry Klayman, a lawyer and founder of Judicial Watch, filed the lawsuit on March 31 in U.S. District Court in Washington, DC. The Facebook page, which was removed March 29, was allowed to stay posted for approximately two weeks and had accumulated approximately 350,000 “friends.”
In the filing, Mr. Klayman also asks for Facebook to remove all pages that encourage violence against Jews or use the term “Third Intifada.”
Facebook indicates it will fight the case.
Obama connects pastor to beheadings by Muslims Gerard Vanderleun hits the nail on the head in the comments section with “Ignorance has nothing to do with it. Malice has everything to do with it.”
The European Union Commissioner for Transportation Slim Kallas. said “That means no more conventionally fueled cars in our city centres. Action will follow, legislation, real action to change behavior.” He has denied that the EU plan to cut car use by half over the next 20 years, before a total ban in 2050 will limit personal mobility or reduce Europe’s economic competitiveness.
Cutting mobility is not an option, neither is business as usual. We can break the transport system’s dependence on oil without sacrificing its efficiency and compromising mobility. It can be win-win.
A spokesman for the Association of British Drivers said “I suggest that he goes and finds himself a space in the local mental asylum.”
Several days ago, courtesy of an analysis by JPM’s Michael Feroli, we quantified that the implied “rents” benefit to the US economy arising from squatters not paying mortgages is about $50 billion per year, or just about 0.4% of GDP. Today, thanks to 60 Minutes, this number is about to soar, because if anyone didn’t know before that paying mortgages is for suckers, now virtually every single mortgage borrower, and there are about 48 million of them, will think long and hard before mailing out the next mortgage payment. And if not all, then certainly the 11.1 million underwater mortgages will be one step closer to throwing in the towel on feeding the mortgage monster. Considering that 4.6 million mortgages are currently delinquent for 30 days or more, look for this number to at least double as everyone who is underwater says no mas to a losing game.
They’re baaack! The radical network that shut down the World Trade Organization in 1999′s “Battle of Seattle” is being reincarnated to shut down global fossil fuel production on April 20.”Aggressive protests and civil disobedience” will animate the “International Day of Direct Action Against Extraction” says protest organizer Rising Tide North America, a coalition of environmental, climate and “social justice” groups.
Marching orders are simple: “For a stable climate, clean air and water, we must stop the extraction of fossil fuels and other resources.” How? “Target government and corporations. Take it to the point of production: shut down a well site, occupy a mine, take over an office, blockade a bank.” Do that enough and the world stops.
If you remove 2.33 million people from the labor force within one year, that will indeed help lower the unemployment rate. It is, however, not the same as helping the unemployed find jobs.

According to international studies subsidizing renewable energy in the U.S. may destroy two jobs for every one created. But, don’t expect the state-run media to report on this
Pathetic moral equivalence from Caliph Obama.
Have you seen a single news story this week asking when the senate was going to pass something? I haven’t (granted I spent yesterday in Bed sick) but I don’t see why it is up to the house which has already done its job to act again when the senate has been unable to do a thing and Republican senators do their country no favors by demanding compromise by the house before they have done their job.
Get something passed first, then we can negotiate based on the two versions available.
So the question is simple: Are Hill Republicans going to stop shooting BBs at trillion dollar deficits and debts, man-up to the Democrats, and face-down this paralyzing bogeyman about 1995?
Here’s an idea: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker John Boehner should call a joint closed-caucus meeting with compulsory attendance. And for the program, show “Facing Giants” over and over again until their charges bust down the doors like a bunch of crazed NFL linebackers who can’t wait to sack quarterbacks Democrats.
No, it’s not real at all. Republicans need to stop the foolishness and act in accordance with the Constitution.
Extreme being the word Schumer was overheard instructing his fellow Dems to label the GOP and Tea Party as.
Speaking of extreme…Samantha Power to be the next Secretary of State?
On Tuesday, Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe and American Postal Workers Union President Cliff Guffey will be asked about the fact the contract limits outsourcing and layoffs and provides a 3 percent raise over three years.Issa’s questioning of the postal workers’ contract echoes debates in Washington and state capitals about the cost of benefits that public sector workers receive. A Federal Aviation Administration re-authorization bill is hung up in Congress over union provisions and the Republican governors of Wisconsin and Ohio are embroiled in battles over public workers’ collective bargaining rights.
The hearing will also examine the controversial issue of ending Saturday mail, which the USPS has been seeking congressional permission to do since 2010. Issa said that the postmaster general is now leaning less toward canceling it.
The cables from the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City to the State Department in Washington, D.C., reported that lethal weapons, including anti-tank firearms and grenades, were stolen from military forces in Central America and then smuggled into Mexico through the Guatemala border, reported La Jornada on Mar. 29.
Wow! I am admittedly having trouble trying to enunciate the awesomeness of this speech. I’ve gone to the trouble of transcribing the entire speech for those of you who can’t watch it but to everyone else you must watch it.
US and Libya:
LBJ said that when he lost Walter Cronkite on the Vietnam War, he lost Middle America; Marx said that history repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce. Two weeks into his conspicuously confused Libyan misadventure, Comrade Obama has lost Saturday Night Live
We should have had a little congressional debate about this before launching a billion bucks worth of fireworks to not-get-Qaddafi.
Fools rush in.
We pay the price.
Look for the Union Label/The Badger Rebellion:
The e-mail found online was titled, “Time To Kill.” The writer wrote, “At first I thought I might pull out a gun at my State office and kill a bunch of these dummies that I work with.”
It also went as far to mention Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who was shot and injured during a public appearance back in January.
Saturday we caught up with Maziarz to discuss the email sent by someone who expressed his dissatisfaction with the state budget.
“Both the Speaker and the Senate Majority Leader, and the Governor are taking it seriously,” said the Senator. “They referred the email to the State Police to see whether or not it was a credible threat, but they’re taking it seriously as well they should.”
What did anyone expect out of a police force that does not give a damn about the law and only cares about it’s union? They should all be fired ASAP-Capitol Chaos: Law Enforcement Refused Senate Majority Leader’s Order
“There was no cop in the state that would enforce it,” he said.
The campaign is incredibly revealing. Kloppenburg’s supporters have scraped somewhere far beneath the bottom of the barrel for dirt against Justice Prosser, and Kloppenburg has been content to play along. If I were a Democrat, I am quite sure that I would be ashamed of the candidate and the tactics on display on Wisconsin.
The silence of the left (including the mainstream media) in the face of this disgrace makes one wonder if the sense of shame has been utterly extinguished by the will to power. It really is worth paying attention, for the campaign is a preview of coming attractions.

Howard “Dr. Demento” Dean is off his meds yet again. Here the unhinged middle-aged white man crows with delight at the demise of the middle-aged white man, equates holding a sign at a Tea Party with burning down buildings, denounces anyone who’s noticed that Comrade Obama is a socialist as having mental problems, accuses Fox News of telling unspecified lies, and most outrageously of all, credits the brazen, deliberate liars at MSBNC with being honest
Governors in Florida, Ohio and Wisconsin realized that proposed high-speed rail projects would end up bleeding their states dry year after year so they recently pulled the plug on those projects, even though it meant rejecting “free” money from the federal government. California should follow their example and put a stop to this boondoggle before it becomes yet another budgetary black hole for the state.

The ride seems to be getting bumpier. In all sorts of areas, we need more of a cushion.
“Realistically, we’re not interested in prosecution,” he said. “We’re interested in obtaining information.”
MSM Circus and Celebutard Side Show:
What is even more ironic about Ed Schultz hosting The Black Agenda, is that MSNBC did not miss a single opportunity to question the whiteness of the TEA Party movement. Heck, they even made stuff up. Yet, when it comes to racial bean counting in their own backyard, mum is the word. Hypocrisy thy name is MSNBC.
To O’Donnell’s credit, she says she doesn’t try to dissuade him from a path he says he wants to follow, but we can forget about her ever being bright enough to recognize what the world would look like if it weren’t for people with ambitions like her son. In other words, if America were governed according to the whims of the “pro-peace” and “anti-killing” crowd Rosie runs with, we’d all be dead.
An added bonus is that in the military her son will learn that, yes, fire can melt steel — so maybe he can go home and convince Rosie of that fact.
With the assploding irony being Robin Roberts is black.
O’Brien, herself a Harvard graduate, dresses as a modern American woman. She has absolutely no comment to make about the fact that most of the adult Muslim women on camera are all wearing long, shapeless dresses and severe hijab—while the Muslim men are all dressed in modern, American style. The Sheikh’s wife insists that women are not “oppressed” under Sharia Law, that she is not oppressed, that no Muslim woman she knows has ever been oppressed, etc.
Interestingly enough, the Sheikh has a foreign accent. One wonders why so many Sheiks have been imported from the Middle East to America. Asra Nomani is a religious Muslim feministwho was born in India and raised in America. Her father founded the mosque of Morgantown, West Virginia. Nomani tried to persuade her mosque to become more woman-friendly. She failed. In a PBSdocumentary about this story, Nomani claimed that when Arab Muslims joined her mosque, her battle to bring it into the 21st century failed.
From the “Fools and their money are soon parted” department: ‘Winning? No, he was bombing’: Angry fans boo and heckle as Charlie Sheen’s one-man stage show flops
Angry fans booed and heckled the former Two and a Half Men star, demanding their money back, but the unapologetic actor was uninterested, telling one member of the baying crowd ‘I’ve already got your money, dude.’
As a general rule, the three most dangerous places in the world are in war-torn areas where anarchy and despotism rules the day; in Antarctica naked; and standing between an anti-capitalist and a giant pile of money. Not necessarily in that order.
Bittman concluded his self-righteous rant: “Well I believe we’re here at this stalemate because we refuse to tax corporations the way they should be taxed and we refuse to tax billionaires the way they should be taxed. That would make a huge difference.”
No comment on whether Mark Bittman thinks he is being taxed enough.
California is an interesting case of a state slowly committing suicide. Businesses and citizens are leaving California in droves, there is a tsunami of red ink, and the California Assembly just passed a bill that will require state utilities to get a third of their energy from “renewable” sources by 2020. It is one of the most aggressive standards anywhere.
The usual suspects are delighted. The NRDC says in just nine years renewable energy generation in California will be roughly equal to total current U.S. renewable generation, and supply enough “clean energy” to power nearly 9 million homes, or according to the Union of Concerned Scientists, to drive 3 million cars. A spectacular case of wishful thinking.
Can you think of any case when an agency set up to regulate to control a problem, has quietly disbanded when the problem disappears? Me neither.
And he did this without installing an economy killing cap and trade system. Bush must be a God to the Warmists for doing this, right?
