While the liberal establishment deliriously revels in the army taking control of Egypt, and even tries to give credit for this allegedly happy occasion to the bumbling Obama, here‘s what’s happening to the handful of Christians who have managed to survive centuries after the catastrophic Islamic conquest in 642
[Across] ‘liberated’ eastern Libya, a spirit of volunteerism and pulling together is evident. At the “Voice of Free Libya,” the country’s first uncensored radio station in decades, people working there tell of strangers showing up with baskets of food. In the courthouse, an old man scrubs toilets – his way of doing something for the country, he says.
Jalal Galaal, a businessman who’s acting to bring together the city council and local interests, says businessmen and government officials started showing up last week at the courthouse – a focal point for protesters – asking what should be done.

These things are hard to explain to anyone who has not lived under Cuba’s Stalinist brand of totalitarian communism. Many of my American friends simply don’t understand me when I try to illustrate the reasons the Cuban people have tolerated so many atrocities for so long. And I don’t blame them. Unless you have lived in Castro’s Cuba, unless you feel the profound fear that has become part of Cuban culture, it’s incomprehensible.
But the Cuban people do live in deep fear. They find the Castro brothers much more intimidating than the sharks in the Caribbean. Mind you, if Cuba and the United States were to open the floodgates and allow Cubans to flee from the island on flotillas to Florida — as has occurred in the past — surely thousands would risk their lives crossing the Florida Straits on anything that floats to regain their freedom. And yet they find demonstrating against the government a lot more life-threatening. Doesn’t that say something?
In other words, you’re safer in Kabul 7,500 miles away than in Juarez, just over the border from El Paso.
But there’s nothing to be concerned about.

I walked down the street in Barcelona, and suddenly discovered a terrible truth Europe died in Auschwitz . . . We killed six million Jews and replaced them with 20 million Muslims. In Auschwitz we burned a culture, thought, creativity, talent. We destroyed the chosen people, truly chosen, because they produced great and wonderful people who changed the world.
The contribution of this people is felt in all areas of life: science, art, international trade, and above all, as the conscience of the world. These are the people we burned.
And under the pretense of tolerance, and because we wanted to prove to ourselves that we were cured of the disease of racism, we opened our gates to 20 million Muslims, who brought us stupidity and ignorance, religious extremism and lack of tolerance, crime and poverty, due to an unwillingness to work and support their families with pride.
They have blown up our trains and turned our beautiful Spanish cities into the third world, drowning in filth and crime.

Simon Black: “The Market Is Telling Us That The Dollar Is Finished”
There’s major shift occurring right now in financial markets. Sure, the food and freedom riots that are spreading across the globe are a major indicator that civil unrest follows very closely behind resource shortages and economic turmoil… but there’s something else that I’ve noticed recently– it’s a sea change in the financial system. In the past, major crises normally caused investors to seek safe haven assets, and everything else equal, the dollar would rise. They call it a ‘flight to safety’, and investors would flock towards the perceived stability of US Treasury securities. Fast forward to today. Mubarak. Gaddafi. Khalifa. Al Said. Ben Ali. Etc. There is no shortage of turmoil right now… yet we are seeing the dollar get clobbered while gold, silver, and smaller currencies like the Swiss franc rise. This represents a major shift in the way that the market views risk.

Obama’s Department of Injustice Targets Popular Republican Governor
Eric Holder’s DoJ is not interested in prosecuting the Black Panthers, but they are pulling out the stops to take out a rising star in the Republican Party – Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal. The legal harassment is ostensibly to enforce “voting laws,” but political motivations are evident.
The administration’s approach to voting rights is unquestionably political. Military ballots are of little concern, but felons, illegals and welfare leeches must be led by red carpet straight into the voting booths so that they can pull the Democratic Party level. Fictitious lawsuits are constructed against popular Republican Governors, while slam-dunk cases of racial intimidation are dropped because the victims were white.
The Department of Justice has been turned into an Orwellian body whose name not only no longer accurately describes its functions, but declares exactly the opposite of how it operates in practice. Under Eric Holder, DoJ is the Department of Injustice.

A president who ignores the law sets a chilling precedent
I should mention one more thing about that Indianapolis conference. When somebody asked one of the speakers whether a liberal such as Obama could also invoke interposition to bypass laws or rulings he didn’t like – a decision making health reform unconstitutional, for example – he replied:
“That’s where the 2nd Amendment comes in.”

To highlight the offensiveness to liberty that democracy and majority rule is, just ask yourself how many decisions in your life would you like to be made democratically. How about what car you drive, where you live, whom you marry, whether you have turkey or ham for Thanksgiving dinner? If those decisions were made through a democratic process, the average person would see it as tyranny and not personal liberty. Is it no less tyranny for the democratic process to determine whether you purchase health insurance or set aside money for retirement? Both for ourselves, and our fellow man around the globe, we should be advocating liberty, not the democracy that we’ve become where a roguish Congress does anything upon which they can muster a majority vote.
Waving is an odd thing, if you think about it. It’s like, Hello, look, here is my hand. I’m moving it all around because we can see each other! Most people don’t wave that often, but President Obama does it all the time, whether for a crowd or a camera. Not because he necessarily wants to, but because it’s expected of him. The president is supposed to be a friendly and folksy character, and waving as if he gives a shit helps to foster such an image. Usually, Obama pulls it off just fine, with a big happy grin. But sometimes, he just can’t fake it, and the look on his face reveals how grudgingly and unenthusiastically he is performing this charade for us.

Ever since her husband ascended to the presidency, the media has prematurely sought to fit the square-shaped Michelle Obama into the circular hole of Camelot. Still bewitched by the moldering majesty of the Kennedy legacy and always on the lookout for an heir to King John’s throne, every time a young Democratic couple enters the White House, the media assume that Camelot has been reborn. Breitbart’s response: “Manufactured poppycock,” adding that Parnes never tried to contact him either. “This is an attempt to try and manufacture a bogeyman,” he said.
In a phone interview, Breitbart went on to point out that mocking public figures in editorial cartoons has been “standard practice” for centuries. As long as the first lady remains involved in policy discussions, Breitbart said, “she’s open to criticism.”
The Truth About Obama’s 2012 Budget
Rasmussen: 58% support gov’t shutdown rather than current spending levels
Voters in every age and gender demographic would choose a shutdown rather than current levels of spending. Only voters earning more than $100K a year choose to keep spending at current levels rather than risking a shutdown. Perhaps most telling, 56% of government workers would rather see a shutdown than continued spending at current levels.
Poll: More Americans Would Blame Democrats for Government Shutdown
Whatever the case, Democrats want a shutdown. They’re still living in 1995, thinking they can bamboozle the public into believing Republicans want to throw grandma out in the street and make her eat dog food. Demagoguery is all they’ve got left in the outdated playbook.

Walker’s office issued this statement:
“I’m sure the President knows that most federal employees do not have collective bargaining for wages and benefits while our plan allows it for base pay. And I’m sure the President knows that the average federal worker pays twice as much for health insurance as what we are asking for in Wisconsin. At least I would hope he knows these facts.
“Furthermore, I’m sure the President knows that we have repeatedly praised the more than 300,000 government workers who come to work every day in Wisconsin.
“I’m sure that President Obama simply misunderstands the issues in Wisconsin, and isn’t acting like the union bosses in saying one thing and doing another.”

In Greece, it was the Socialist Party that had to impose the austerity programs when the money ran out. Ditto Spain. Democrat or Republican, red or blue, when there isn’t any money and the credit cards are maxed out, something has to give.
Public union support is going to be less and less of a political asset. In Chicago, some key public unions actually backed one of Emanuel’s rivals: Gery Chico. Chico got 24 percent of the vote in one of the most heavily Democratic places in the country. Increasingly, politicians seen as too close to public sector unions (and therefore likely to favor the interests of government workers against the taxpayers who pay them) are going to suffer at the polls.
National Education Association to Double Members’ Dues Spent on Politics
This raise in political spending comes at a time when the NEA has seen membership fall by some 54,000 members and found a $14 million shortfall in its general operating budget.

Detroit News: AWOL Dems defy ballot box
It’s part of a disturbing trend by Democrats to embrace a by-any-means-necessary approach to governing. We saw it during passage of Obamacare, when the Democratic majority in the U.S. Senate blew up the rules to block a filibuster. In Massachusetts, Democrats used after-the-fact law changes in a failed attempt to keep a Republican from succeeding Ted Kennedy.
Obama trashed bankruptcy law to move the United Auto Workers ahead of General Motors’ and Chrysler’s secured creditors. And his regulatory agencies are bypassing Congress to enact policies he knows the elected representatives would never approve.
The strategy exposes the arrogant liberal conviction that they are justified in imposing their will on the people, because only they know what’s best for America.
These Democrats in Indiana and Wisconsin merit universal condemnation.
What they are saying is that the people no longer have the right to use the ballot box to decide the direction of their government.
Walker gives 24-hour deadline to fleebaggers
Walker addresses a joint session of the legislature tomorrow night, in what will surely be showdown moment between himself and the fleebaggers. If they don’t send someone to provide a quorum at that point, Walker will almost certainly announce layoffs and blame them on Democrats who won’t participate as a minority, but instead insist on dictating to the majority. Unfortunately for everyone, there seems to be no way for fleebaggers to save face at this point.

Which is better for economic growth: Collective bargaining unions or right-to-work-laws?
This may seem like a no-brainer argument, but you’d be surprised at the number of people who believe that union states actually spur more economic growth than the states that are staunchly right-to-work. For example, after you’re done with Professor Barro’s piece, read

Protesters Refuse to Leave Capitol; Police Melt Like Wisconsin Cheddar in a Fondue Pot
Leftists rarely care about anything being clean or respected — not even a war memorial — so no surprise there. But by the police doing nothing they’re inviting more of this behavior. Remember though that the police are also unionized, so the question of whether the cops will ultimately put unions or laws first may have been answered in Wisconsin.
I saw an officer being interviewed this morning, and he said “We’re expecting everyone to act in accordance with the laws, but we’ve made a decision not to force anybody out or make arrests.” When leftist thugs heard that, they heard “anything goes.” Running a city on the left-wing honor system… what could possibly go wrong?
Are we really heading down this path here? The citizens … the taxpayers … cannot count on the police to do their duty with equal discretion? Will their loyalty to the union trump their duty to the community?
L.A. Police Union Urges Members to ‘Stand in Solidarity’ with SEIU and MoveOn.Org
What? MoveOn.org? The SEIU? And they were asking cops to march in this parade? Surely this had to be some kind of elaborate Internet hoax.
And it got worse. If you dared to click on the link to find a rally, you learned that in addition to MoveOn.org and the SEIU, the events were to be sponsored by National People’s Action, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, USAction, the Daily Kos, Media Matters, and every other leftist fringe cabal this side of the Socialist Workers Party. The post concluded with a stirring exhortation: “Our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin are under attack. They need and deserve our support. The time to pull together is NOW.” They might have gone with something a bit punchier, like “Workers of the world, unite!”
It was no hoax. Would that it had been.
And how the phones must have been ringing in the League offices Thursday evening. The post soon had more than 25 comments (the typical post on the site receives no more than one or two), the overwhelming majority of which expressed opposition to making common cause with organizations most police officers finds repellent. “LAPD officers aligned with MoveOn.org?” wrote the first to weigh in. “Now I’ve seen everything!” “So now we hook up with the mob?” wrote another. “Are you crazy?”
Capitulation: Madison capitol police give in to Big Labor Slumber Party occupiers
In Madison, Wisconsin — the Berkeley of the Midwest — deadlines don’t mean diddly-squat. Rules don’t apply. And the People’s House belongs not to hard-working taxpayers, but to Big Labor squatters who have grimed and slimed up the Capitol for almost two weeks.
The Capitol police had set a deadline this afternoon for the grievance mob to clear out their sleeping bags, crock pots, and other makeshift camp paraphernalia. The occupiers ignored them. The Capitol police then promptly…capitulated. Rest assured, rewarding the breakdown of civil order will lead to more civil disorder. Way to go, Madison

Union civility: Fox-bashing edition
Now, the hatred has turned physical. Fox News reporter Mike Tobin — a fearless international correspondent who has covered wars in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq, Israel and the Palestinian territories — was assaulted in Madison today as hysterical union goons screamed over his live shots to drown out his news segments.
Video of Fox News Correspondant on WI Protesters: ‘There is hate in their eyes’
“One thing I think should make clear – the people coming after us from every live shot here, these people hate,” Tobin said. “These are people who don’t respect diverse viewpoints. In fact, they’re so afraid I’ll present a diverse viewpoint, that’s why they try to heckle me and shut down every live shot. They’ve made it clear, that what they want to make it harder for me to do my job. They are proud of that when they disrupt a live shot, when they really trample over the First Amendment rights or the First Amendment’s obligations of a reporter. Now, I am not saying that’s all of the people. Those are the people that come here and heckle and try to disrupt things. I look in their eyes – there is hate in their eyes. They don’t want to hear any kind of viewpoint that is different from their own. That’s why they do what they do.”
One thing is for certain. The more progressives attack Fox News and their icons, the more popular Fox becomes. It’s like throwing gasoline on a media wildfire, thinking that it will extinguish the flames of information. Information that is the last flame of news in the US that is even remotely trustworthy from a major media outlet. A flame that outlets such as Media Matters would love to snuff out. News that is in tune with American citizens and not wildly out of step with their core beliefs.
Isn’t it ironic that the more Soros’ funded groups and Obama/union backed entities attack Glenn Beck, the more consistently his show ratings are at the top of the chart compared to ALL cable outlets? See what happens when you use inflammatory rhetoric to attack conservative ideals? You set America’s thirst for real news on fire. Fox’s ratings and profits have risen for years simply because they give Americans what they want – the truth. The progressive/Soros/Obama/union agenda – not so much.
David Brooks: More People Own Ferrets Than Watch Fox News
In any event, I think we can all agree on one thing. The real question is: how do ferret ownership numbers compare to the readership of David Brooks?
In October, the New York Times had an average weekday circulation of 877,000. You think all those people read David Brooks? He’s lucky if 10% of them actually read his column. We’ll say 25% if we’re being really generous. That’s fewer than a quarter million people.
Which is less than half the number who own ferrets. Which means Brooks would have been more accurate to say: “twice as many Americans own ferrets as read me.”
Why do I bother writing about this? Because this is the kind of stupid soundbite that liberals will pick up on, and repeat ad nauseum. So it’s fun to have the facts at the ready to slap them down.

MoveOn.org pro-union thugs screamed F*** you at a group of tea partiers in Georgia and then crossed the street and attacked them. A petite elderly woman was shoved by the attacking leftist goons.
Yesterday I had a lot of time to think. I stood for two hours on the street across from the NC Capital and watched the circus. This was not Barnum and Bailey. This was a street performance by SEIU, SEANC, Teamsters, etc. and their progressive, socialist and communist organizers.
Yes, there was a gathering on my side of the street also. The defining characteristic between the opposing crowds was clear. One side wants to achieve “economic and social justice” through redistribution of wealth and power. The other side wants to be left alone to live their lives and prosper in accordance with their industry and ability. It’s just that simple: force vs. self reliance.
Many smart conservatives with good intentions have worked hard to find ways to communicate with these Looters, the “useful idiots”, “tools” of the communists, who carry the socialist and progressive banners. Despite best efforts one can see little net effect on the dialog or events over the last two years. There is no common ground for compromise or negotiation with the naked evil that only covets what you have and believes it should become theirs.
But Dana’s name-calling is emblematic of the increasingly desperate tone of the left. Weeks ago liberal elites were finger-wagging about incivility; now they ignore their own side’s extra-legal obstruction and project that behavior onto their opponent. Is this really the best the left can do?

Happily, the end is near for public sector unions
As you watch the raucous fight over public employees union collective bargaining and, ultimately, who will run government in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, New Jersey and elsewhere, you cannot help but hope the end is near for public employees unions.
Oh, it may not happen today, but it will happen soon, the embers of public anger fanned to flame by union members brashly warning a recession-battered nation they are owed, even entitled, no matter what, to ever-increasing government wages, raises, benefits and guarantees unheard of in most of the private sector. In recent days, they have shown us the petty, mean face of liberalism, with its me-first mentality. It is not pretty.

It’d probably be better to use that $70 million to bring those people modern power generation and farming methods.
Remember, though, I’ve said that “food security” due to climate change will become a big talking point as a means to prop up their dying cult.
