Large numbers of police – and new tactics like shrill whistles and street cleaning trucks – squelched overt protests in China for a second Sunday in a row after more calls for peaceful gatherings modeled on recent democratic movements in the Middle East.
Near Shanghai’s People’s Square, uniformed police blew whistles nonstop and shouted at people to keep moving, though about 200 people – a combination of onlookers and quiet sympathizers who formed a larger crowd than a week ago – braved the shrill noise. In Beijing, trucks normally used to water the streets drove repeatedly up the busy commercial shopping district spraying water and keeping crowds pressed to the edges.

Zimbabwean Army Helping Gaddafi in Libya
With the eastern part of Libya having fallen to anti-Gaddafi protesters, it’s being reported that mercenaries from several African countries, including Zimbabwe, are putting up a stand in the west of the country, including the capital Tripoli, on behalf of Gaddafi.
They are reportedly gunning down unarmed civilians at random and Arab TV channel Al Jazeera said that Zimbabwe was helping to provide mercenaries, along with Chad and other African countries.

The caliphate is an institution of imperial Islamic rule under sharia, Muslim law. Not content with empire, Islam anticipates global hegemony. Supply is unlikely to converge with demand again until a whole termite hill of parasitic institutions falls to the ground and regulatory regimes allow the markets to produce enough to meet the world’s rising expectations, for the color of the current world crisis is the color of money. Secondly, we should note that when the force of government is utilized to concentrate wealth in the hands of a few, the few will stop at nothing to hang-on. Venezuela and Libya and Saudi Arabia have been good for Chavez and Kadafi and King Abdullah (yet not so good for everybody else). Similarly, the incestuous relationship between American politicians and government employee unions is good for the politicians and the union members – politicians give union members what they want and union members vote to re-elect their union-loving politicians – but it’s bad for the taxpayer who ultimately pays the bill.
Ultimately, “big government” produces sluggish and un-productive economies. And the lack of economic productivity leads to civil unrest. It’s a vicious cycle that has got the world in a tailspin right now.
“Big government” is failing, around the globe and here at home. Will America make a better choice going forward?

The following is a summary and time line of articles appearing on the Sipsey Street Irregulars blog and Gun Rights Examiner, reflecting original reporting on the developing “Project Gunwalker” story by Mike Vanderboegh and myself. That’s the purposely ironic name I assigned it, a parody of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive’s “Project Gunrunner,” and it refers to allegations by whistleblowing ATF insiders that:
- ATF management was allowing potentially hundreds of semiautomatic firearms to be walked across the Mexican border in order to pad statistics used to further budget and power objectives.

According to a report from The Daily the Department of Homeland Security plans to deploy portable DNA scanners at U.S. points of entry. They’re about the size of a desktop printer and can produce lab-quality DNA screenings in about an hour. So in addition to the full-body scanners and enhanced patdowns we’ll have to stand obediently still while a TSA rent-a-cop swabs the inside of our mouth.

As he explained, collective bargaining process allows unions to get sweetheart deals such as a requirement in some contracts that teachers get their health insurance from a teachers union-owned company, which Walker said cost the state $68 million more than the state-run employee health plan.
In a recent poll, 70% of Wisconsinites agree that Gov. Walker’s demands were fair.
Pawlenty called out President Obama claiming that Wisconsin and other governors do not need lectures from “somebody who’s never balanced a budget in his life.” He also “I cut spending in real terms for the first time in my state’s 150-year history,” he said.
As much as liberals want to try to shift the narrative as democrats ‘standing up’ to a republican governor as a show of solidarity with the unions, it’s really a show of cowardice. The people of Wisconsin voted in republicans and this conservative governor to put into place this proposal and budget.

Most of us have been waiting a long, long time for it; we can only hope we find our new Intimidator — a truly tough, no-nonsense, rough-and-tumble type who isn’t afraid to get a little blood on his shoes from kicking the poodles to the curb — before it’s too late.
Breaking the narratives that enslave us
The video of the black gay Tea Partyer getting harassed by angry leftists has been widely circulated and commented upon, and the reason I can’t stop thinking about it is not only because it demonstrates in a microcosm the nastiness of the left (I should probably say “the Jim Crow left” — more on that later), but because it is the most perfect example I have seen of pure non-narrativism. I don’t know whether that’s a word, but maybe it should be. Not only is the black gay Tea Partyer himself a triple narrative violation, but people on the left hate to be caught in a multiple violations of their own narrative, which is they are never racist, and never homophobic.

Sea turtles’ migration mystery is ‘solved’
Until now, how species such as loggerhead sea turtles manage to migrate thousands of miles across oceans with no visual landmarks has been a mystery.
Now researchers from the University of North Carolina believe they have found the answer.
Loggerhead sea turtles appear to be able to determine their longitude using two sets of magnetic cues. It is the first time this ability has been shown in any migratory animal.
