Slaughter in Aden Yemen Now, Update: 17 killed
There are wounded persons and dead bodies in the streets that no one can get to because of the central security forces (CSF) are shooting live rounds. Tanks moved in earlier today and CSF had new large weapons that residents hadn’t seen before. One person identified them as anti-aircraft machine guns and said they were strafing residential homes. Snipers were positioned on the roofs and remain there. Ambulances are blocked. There is an urgent need for blood and medicine. Heavy gunfire is ongoing. Dozens are wounded. Seventeen fatalities were counted as follows, but the evenings death toll will likely rise. The lights are off.
Iraq’s Largest Oil Refinery Shut Down After Terrorists Kill 4 People & Bomb Facility
Thank goodness Obama sunk all that money into failed green projects to supply our economy with energy or we’d be in real trouble.
Video: Libya Descends into Chaos and Murder
This is raw video in more ways than one. There are three separate clips. The first shows a group of men facing down what sounds like a 50cal in the street at night. The second shows a passenger car which has just been run over by a tank. From the reaction of the people in the street, I don’t think the passengers in the car had gotten out. The third shows fires and graffiti in the street. It is truly a scene of hellish chaos
SmartDiplomacy™ at work-UN Convenes Emergency Session on Libya; US Ambassador MIA – Again
The UN Security Council convened an emergency session yesterday to draft sanctions against Libyan mad- dog Moammar Khadafy.
But as the UN struggled to put out the fires in the Mideast, America’s top UN rep was nowhere to be found.
In fact, US Ambassador Susan Rice was 8,000 miles away from UN headquarters, taking tea in South Africa with fellow diplonuts.
South Africa? What the hell?
Rice flew to sunny Cape Town this week for a “global sustainability” conference to discuss carbon emissions and green economies in the Third World.
Bolton on Obama Regime’s Response to the Middle East: “This is incompetence of the worst kind”
Libya: Just how pathetic is Barack Obama?
We have the biggest navy in the world and all that wimp can do is rent a ferry, as if this were some excursion in the bay instead of an evacuation in the middle of a civil war.
Others offered earlier the reasonable argument that Obama wasn’t doing more because he didn’t want to do something that might set Qaddafi off to take revenge on Americans. But that obviously isn’t a concern if the Brits feel they can send in the SAS…
Yet we rent a ferry.
Unbelievable.
Mr. President… Barry… Stop it. Just stop. You’re embarrassing us.
Obama Considering Plan Palin? Seeking Advice on No-Fly Zone For Libya
So Stupid! CNN’s commenters thought Palin’s suggestion was so stupid it should not have even have been reported.
I suppose now they will add nuance to their claim — three days ago it was stupid, but the situation has changed so dramatically that only now is the suggestion humane and brilliant.
Those who continually propose and support massive cuts in the DOD are always carping on the costs of building another supercarrier. Expensive? Very. What never gets asked when it comes to costs and defense are questions like, “What would it cost to replace New York, Washington, and Los Angeles?”
Iran Forced to Remove Nuclear Fuel Rods From Bushehr
Holy Chernobyl. Sounds like trouble in nuke paradise.
It’s not just Mideast turmoil that has brought us to this point. It’s also a deliberate program of restricting domestic energy to make so-called green energy more attractive and necessary, keeping an Obama campaign promise that energy prices would “necessarily skyrocket” on his energy agenda.
Before he was appointed energy secretary, Chu expressed a fondness for high European gas prices as a means of reducing consumption of fossil fuels. In September 2008, he told the Wall Street Journal: “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” Gas prices in Europe then averaged about $8 a gallon.
Certainly every administration energy decision has had the effect of raising energy prices. The Deepwater Horizon disaster gave the administration the excuse for a drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico, one that a federal judge overturned. When the administration reinstated the ban, it was found in contempt of court.
Here’s How We Get to Energy Independence
Like Thomas Friedman, I wonder if history has ever seen such a time where so much of a nation’s own capital was handed over to its enemies for them to use against it—in order to import a product it already has plenty of at home.

President Chump: You Republicans Need To Compromise And Build Energy Efficient Lightbulbs!
So, now that Democrats lost the House, lost several seats in the Senate, and lost an enormous number of state assemblies and governors mansions, now Obama wants to work together? In reality, he doesn’t. This is a setup to Blame Republicans when they refuse to include a ton of progressive style bits of legislation into the budgets, when they are cutting unhinged progressive programs and reducing funding for out of control agencies, and Obama vetoes the budget. The People spoke in November, Sparky: whether they were voting for Republicans or against you and your free spending big government palls in the Democrat party, it matters not. They spoke. You should listen.
As Greg Sheridan writes in The Australian, “It was an iron rule of the Cold War that the more grotesque and horrible the communist regime, the more dedicated and active would be its fan club, its friendship societies and fellow travellers in the West”:
This has also been true of Arab and Third World dictatorships. The psychotic murderer Che Guevara is an icon of style chic, even today. Cuba’s revolting dictator, Fidel Castro, with his Havana Stalinism, was often touted as a great and wise statesman. Even a year or two ago the intellectual and moral giant Michael Moore paid tribute to Castro’s health service without mentioning his gulag of dissidents.
While the Cold War dealt with issues of freedom versus totalitarianism, the War on Terror introduced another element as well. As Mackubin Thomas Owens wrote in September of 2002, “9/11 revealed an emerging geopolitical reality: that the world’s most important fault line is not between the rich and the poor, but between those who accept modernity and those who reject it.”
Read the whole thing!-Rubicon: A river in Wisconsin
The magnificent turmoil now gripping statehouses in Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana and soon others marks an epic political moment. The nation faces a fiscal crisis of historic proportions and, remarkably, our muddled, gridlocked, allegedly broken politics have yielded singular clarity.
At the federal level, President Obama’s budget makes clear that Democrats are determined to do nothing about the debt crisis, while House Republicans have announced that beyond their proposed cuts in discretionary spending, their April budget will actually propose real entitlement reform. Simultaneously, in Wisconsin and other states, Republican governors are taking on unsustainable, fiscally ruinous pension and health-care obligations, while Democrats are full-throated in support of the public-employee unions crying, “Hell, no.”
A choice, not an echo: Democrats desperately defending the status quo; Republicans charging the barricades.
Victor David Hanson: The Rise of the Adolescent Mind
Adolescents hold adult notions of consumption: they understand the comfort of a pricey car; they appreciate the status conveyed by a particular sort of handbag or sunglasses; they sense how outward consumption and refined tastes can translate into popularity and envy; and they appreciate how a slogan or world view can win acceptance among peers without worry over its validity. But they have no adult sense of acquisition, themselves not paying taxes, balancing the family budget, or worrying about household insurance, maintenance, or debt. Theirs is a world view of today or tomorrow, not of next year — or even of next week.
So adolescents throw fits when denied a hip sweater or a trip to Disneyland, concluding that it is somehow “unfair” or “mean,” without concern about the funds available to grant their agendas. We see now just that adolescent mind in Wisconsin.
State Budget Battles Herald the Return of the Grown-Ups
Following in the wake of firm resolve set by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, Walker is taking the tough stands long demanded by the people of the states — but conspicuously avoided by the adolescent debt-enabling politicians of both parties. On their heels, and soon to be spotlighted in the public psyche, are Governors Kasich and Daniels, among a swath of others.
During the last presidential election, we saw the most widespread adolescent display in American history. Throngs of wild-eyed fawners and fainters joined hands and chanted, “Yes we can march off this cliff,” as though there were no tomorrow. Formerly presumed intelligent media elites were reduced to a teenage-swoon mentality the minute Barack Obama entered their midst. A man with a postage-stamp sized resume held a majority of modern Americans enthralled with nothing more than teleprompted oratory, giddy-girl-crush syndrome, yellow-brick-road finance wizardry, and Jack-and-the-Beanstalk promises. And the whole Obama bag of fibs and tricks depended on that fantastical pot of gold over the rainbow actually being there.
Has ever such a nation of ninnies held such a public display of foolishness?
Brilliant: Dick Trumka Says That Higher Gas Taxes Will… Create Jobs
The crypto-Marxist who heads up the AFL-CIO is a guy named Richard “Dick” Trumka. And he, with his extensive and legendary experience of shaking down private businesses negotiating for workers and paying off Democrat politicians judiciously rewarding his political allies, says that raising taxes will create jobs.

No More Coolers, Sleeping Bags to be Allowed in WI State Capitol
Photos and videos of how the unions and the Leftists have trashed the Wisconsin capitol building via Althouse:
- At the Capitol today… there were signs taped up everywhere..
- Protesters at the Wisconsin Capitol disrespectfully have taped signs on and piled junk against the Veterans Memorial.
Meade and I confront them, and we’re told we’re the first people who’ve had a problem with it. I try to explain how that attempted defense of the behavior is only going to make it look worse. It means that of all these crowds of people in the Capitol, no one else has noticed or cared enough to say anything.
“Government employees are the new elite”
Communists, socialists rallying support behind Madison protests
Communist and socialist groups — including the Maoist Revolutionary Communist Party, the Communist Party USA, Trotskyist Socialist Workers Party and the Democratic Socialists of America — are voicing their support for the public-sector unions protesting Wisconsin Republican Gov. Scott Walker’s plans to curtail their collective bargaining abilities.

Q: How many members of the U.S. Congress are also members of the DSA?
A: Seventy
When this is all said and done unions are going to be about as popular as cancer with the American public.
SEIU Vows To “Turn North Dakota Into Wisconsin”
Remember that North Dakota is a right to work state. Unions, quite frankly, aren’t that popular here. Saying that the unions are going to throw a tantrum in this state like the tantrum they’ve throw in Wisconsin isn’t likely to win them many friends in the electorate here.
State-Run Media: Government Spending Cuts Will Kill the Economy!
Excessive debt is literally strangling the states and is about to crush the federal government.
But the loons in state-run media think the states and the federal government should keep on borrowing and spending, not because it will support them, of course. But because it’ll “help grow the economy”.
Yes, this is economic propaganda at its finest, crafted with the help of your tax dollars.
This is surprising considering the source!-Unions must adjust to the new economic realities
The Sad State of the State of California
As deficits mount and taxes increase, productive people and enterprises are leaving California for more hospitable states. Inevitably, there will be a tipping point when the state divides between a large welfare population that controls the vote and the rich who live in gated communities but whose tax revenues cannot support the state’s obligations.
Good indicators of the outward migration are the prices of U-Haul vehicles. To rent a 26-foot truck one-way from San Francisco to Austin costs $3236, and yet the one-way charge for that same truck from Austin to San Francisco is just $399. Even so, U-Haul has to pay its employees to drive the empty trucks back from Texas.
Where Have You Gone, Joe DiMaggio?
These union thugs are not just trying to protect their jobs. This is the startlingly open and transparent use of union muscle to achieve a political end. Go to Stimulus Watch and you will see how they were paid and ask yourself how much of those billions and multiple millions will find its way back to the re-election coffers of those who passed the bill? If that isn’t enough to motivate the average American to action, I am at a loss to understand when and how the citizens of this nation will ever rise up against injustice. The luxury of remaining at home and away from scrutiny while the battles are being waged on one’s behalf should come with a convenience tax to be paid to those who pick up the signs, march on the pavement and face down those who would put shackles on an entire population and milk them for every luxury under the sun.

Stupid lie of the week: Fox News people are hypocritical AFTRA members! The one thing you will note about companies that NewsCorp owns is that their union workers rarely go on strike. Why? Because they all know that Rupert Murdoch won’t put up with it and will fire the lot of them.
For example, The British Printers Union went on strike against the Murdoch owned Times of London. In a nutshell Rupert fired them all and moved his printing operation to a new automated facility staffed by non Union employees that he had built in anticipation of the Union going on strike. Murdoch bypassed Union disruption of the distribution of his papers by building his own distribution network with non Union employees. The Unions ranted and raved but at the end of the day the printers were all out of jobs and more importantly the British public had very little sympathy for them after seeing their childish antics.

Two of its apparent planets share the same orbit around their star. If the discovery is confirmed, it would bolster a theory that Earth once shared its orbit with a Mars-sized body that later crashed into it, resulting in the moon’s formation.
