“Bit by bit, putting it together…”

NOTE: I am trying to work on some issues with this blog to make it more “user friendly” based on comments from friends and family and  am putting up this short post as a “sample” for them to comment on. I will be the first to admit that I am no expert in HTML, but I am learning. My personal commentary will be in this shade of blue to differentiate them from the blockquotes taken from the stories linked, FYI/Background stuff will be highlighted in red, the links will now open in a new tab or window and I have finally figured out how to bullet point.

Soon The Economic Deluge

The international monetary system set up at Bretton Woods in 1944 is on the verge of breaking down. It could still be saved by heroic measures, especially if these were taken in the United States. They would include an immediate slash in projected government expenditures, an immediate balancing of the budget, and a halt in any further increase in the stock of money.

But in the present political and ideological atmosphere, these measures are very unlikely.

Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter Demands Evidence of White House Corruption, Gets It

That is nonsense, of course. But for a reporter who can’t seem to find a single fault in Obama’s economic or foreign policies (any problems are Bush’s fault, of course), it’s not altogether surprising.

FYI/Background: The Journolist (There is much more out there on this subject, your homework assignment is to find it)

A visit from the Secret Service

At the end of the interview Volkmann was asked whom he would like to fight next. Volkmann replied that it didn’t matter, then added a political message deriving from his professional experience as a chiropractor: “Actually, Obama. He’s not too bright…. like the make a home affordable plan and his health care plan, someone needs to knock some sense into that idiot.”

Volkmann’s comments resulted in a visit from the Secret Service. The Secret Service showed up to ask him a few questions when he was coaching youth wrestling at White Bear Lake High School-North Campus.

New York City’s No-Show SEIU Snow Jobs

Big Labor and politicians across the United States have transferred union costs to taxpayers. For example, SEIU Local 444 (The Sanitation Officers Association, see related snow slowdown stories) has six full-time union officials who are paid full-time city benefits and salary, yet work 0.00% of the time for New York City. These Sanitation Officers are working on everything but New York City business – including political activities and golf outings – all on the taxpayers’ dime.

Assembly bill caps public worker pensions

Hill called it “outrageous and irresponsible” that 200 well-paid UC executives would gain tens of thousands of dollars a year in retirement income – more than $100,000 in some cases – by lifting the cap. “They really need to come down from their ivory tower and see and feel what real people are going through,” he said.

The icy grip of the politics of fear

It is their disdain for mankind’s planet-altering arrogance that fuels their global-warming fantasies – and they simply seek out The Science that best seems to back up their perverted thoughts. Those predictions of a snowless future, of a parched Earth, are better understood as elite moral porn rather than sedate risk analysis.
