VIDEO: Talking with a Liberal about politics Well worth the time to watch. it will remind you of every conversation you have ever had with one of these fools.
It just makes sense: When you’re pushing a myth, there’s no more appropriate entity to pray to than a mythical goddess. Why be inconsistent?
The ultimate lock-in: Seven trapped in Yorkshire pub for last EIGHT days as forecasters warn Big Freeze will go on for at least another week If you gotta be snowed in somewhere this isn’t too bad-I once spent three days snowed in in a pickup truck 30 miles from the nearest town. BTW-As many in the UK have noted the old steam engine trains have no problem dealing with this kind of weather where the new electric/diesel trains are stuck or broken down.
The limits on interrogation are debatable, but those aren’t the problem. We’re not killing terrorists rather than capturing them because we’re restricting interrogation to the Army Field Manual, which has nothing to do with later adjudication; we’re killing them because we have no real rational place to put them. That’s due entirely to Obama’s detention policies and the judiciary’s arrogation of jurisdiction. Thanks to the mess created by the Holder DoJ, we have no way to process them even if we did.
In the aftermath of the Republican disaster of 2008, some conservative writers hoped that the party could gain support from elite demographics—“the educated class,” as David Brooks calls it, meaning not so much “everyone who graduated from college” but more like “the kind of people we knew at school.” The results of the 2010 election, hugely encouraging for Republicans, indicate that the party’s gains came from almost all parts of the electorate except the elite demographic. I think it is extremely risky in a period of what I call open-field politics to make straight-line extrapolations from the results of one election to the next. But I also think that those conservatives aiming their pitch at their fellow Ivy League graduates, etc., are aiming in the wrong direction.
Coming soon: the loud thud of a gold bust Read the author’s bio on the right hand side of the article. That is all you need to know. Here is a little tip-It isn’t about the value of gold, it is all about the value of the dollar. FYI-In 2006 the price of an ounce of gold was $500, today it is $1,400.
Years later, Churchill’s warnings about trade unionism and redistribution have proven accurate. Though our current economic situation seems bleak, we must also remember (as Churchill reminds us) that politics is not a mere victim of history. Just as progress is not inevitable in politics, neither is decline. Isn’t it time we looked to our old friend Winston Churchill?
Always remember that one of the very first things Obama did (after sealing all of his personal records) was to have the bust of Churchill removed from the Oval Office and send it back to Britain.
But now, after two years of gloating that “I won,” Obama’s extension of an olive branch to the Republicans looks more like subterfuge than magnanimity. There is absolutely nothing in the president’s background or past behavior to indicate that he takes seriously any opposing ideas, or that he has any respect for those who differ with him.
When your life has been a glide path to the top — Punahou, Occidental, Columbia, Harvard, senator and president — why should you believe or behave otherwise?
Republicans shouldn’t expect any meaningful cooperation from Obama, his czars or his regulators, who will continue to beetle away at their principal governing project, the expansion of the state at the expense of the individual.
